PROJECT FLAT
FLOOD AND LANDSLIDE ASSISTANCE AND TRAINING

Project Partners:
One of the project main outputs - establishment of
the Regional Resource center for floods and
landslides has been achieved, additional trainings
scheduled and most of the equipment for Rescue
services purchesed.

Flood and landslide assistance and training (FLAT)

project is part of the Interreg IPA CBC Italy-
Albania-Montenegro Programme.
Subsidy contract of the project was signed in
March 2018, and implementation period of the
project is 24 months with total budget of
959.073,71 euro.
Project specific objectives are improved
structures for responding in case of floods and
landslides in the programme area, strengthened
capacities of Protection Services and creating
integrated initiatives for floods and landslides
preparedness and rescue in the programme
area and Created multi-level plans and tools for
improvement of protection and risk
management in flood-prone and landslide areas
in the programme ares.
Main project result is improved protection and
risk management in flood-prone and landslide
areas in programme area.
 NOVEMBER 2018
Members of Montenegro work group met in
Municipality of Niksic to discuss on further
preparation of Risk analysis on floods and landslides.

DECEMBER 2018
In the frame of project FLAT, Albanian
Association of Municipalities published on its
official website 4 tenders for 1 Key expert and 3
experts for floods and landslides, and after
necessary procedures experts were contracted APRIL 2019

landslides’ was held in Tirana, Albania.
The overall objective was the division of the
Work group to collect necessary data and
to conduct research for creating common
document ‘Risk Analysis on Floods and
Landslides’ in three Municipalities in
Albania (Lezhe, Vau Deja and Shkoder).

MAY 2019
Italian work group has conducted an inspection on site
on the northern coast of Brindisi. Experts identified
and analysed several points at high risk of instability
along the coast towards Brindisi centre including
those to be monitored.

Building of Regional resource center for

floods and landslides has officially been
opened. The Regional training center will
enable effective action in the most difficult
situations of saving human lives and
preservation of material goods.
Since its forming in 1988 with three
employees and one vehicle, to today's 19
employees and nine vehicles, the Protection
Service justified the trust of citizens and now
it has earned a modern home.

JUNE 2019
Trip to Brindisi, Italy to 2nd project partners and work group members meeting where participants
presented and discussed their previous and ongoing work of the project activities. Next project
partner and work group meeting will be held in Municipality of Nikšić in October 2019.
