Trade Study

The Benevectoras will use advanced Landing and De-orbiting System (L.A.D.S) modules to transport
Cargo to and fro from Benevectoras. Each L.A.D.S module will be capable of transferring 50
CASSSCs . It will be designed like a box which stores CASSSCs and has nuclear thermal engines
which will help it to make smooth Landings . ( More about L.A.D.S module can be found in Section
5.5) . The L.A.D.S modules will help stimulate the Martian economy by transporting necessary
supplies and materials required to establish the Martian Infrastructure while at the same time allow to
transport processed materials from Mars to generate profits for the settlement. There would be only 4
of such L.A.D.S modules since these L.A.D.S modules have the capability to make around 100 trips
at one go and transfer 20,000 CASSCs . This number of CASSCs would be enough to transport all the
required cargo to Mars.

In addition to this, a modified L.A.D.S. will transport humans to and fro the Benevectoras. The
modified LADS modules will have 4 gas core nuclear thermal engines instead of 2 in Cargo L.A.D.S
module since the requirements for human spaceflight is more and a soft landing needs to be made.
Each of these modified L.A.D.S system will be able to carry around 100 people easily and will be
capable of making 100 trips at one go.

For Docking purposes, the International Docking and Berthing Mechanism (IDBM) will be used. It
would consist of two systems - the Soft Capture System and Hard Capture System . These systems
will allow smooth and efficient docking of L.A.D.S modules .This has been explained in detail in
Section 2.4 .
