Statistical Data Collection Protocol for multihop wireless sensor

networks

Abstract:

Future extension work of the Statistical Data Collection Protocol (SDCP)

work can be the implementation of distributed scheduling algorithm.

The current work SDCP is used for data collection from the cluster
members to a cluster head for rare event detection. For the data collection to
be implemented, there are two phases involved. First phase is cluster setup
and the second phase is Data Collection as given in in LEACH protocol.

The first phase of cluster setup for distributed wireless sensor

networks can be taken up as the extension work. For cluster setup in SDCP,
the important criterion is that each of the node shall hear each other. Hence,
for the setting of cluster, initially all the nodes can send a packet (hello or
cluster setup packet) with highest transmit power and each of the other nodes
in the network will record the received packet and the sender. After
completion of transmission by all the nodes in the network, all the nodes in
the network will again broadcast the number of packets, its source and its
received signal strength (RSSI). Based on the consolidated information, the
cluster may be setup and the node with highest signal power possibly in the
centre will be selected as Cluster head and that node will setup the cluster
size, members and then the schedule for SDCP.
