ASR Plus is our latest-generation setting regulation system. In addition to all of the well-known advantages of automatic setting regulation, the new computerized generation ASR Plus brings additional benefits. The underlying philosophy remains unchanged: higher production, increased reduction, betterproductshape, better linerutilization, operating condition monitoring and better protection against overloads. ASR Plus teaches itself The systems teaches itself — it is an adaptive system, one of the most modern developments in the field of control and regulation. The ASR Plus control system hasthe ability to adaptitsbehaviorto the circumstances. We have incorporated in the system the experience of ‘many of the crushing industry’s crusher operators. ASR Plus can thus ~ within certain preset limits ~ continuously adapt the operating parameters to changes in the moisture content, crushability and swear characteristics of the feed materia. ‘The benefits are even quality and high production with an absolute minimum of human intervention in the operation of the crusher. A third automatic regulation mode ‘There are two main automatic regulation modes to choose between: Auto-A and Auto-CSS. The regulation methods the same but the two modes have different aim. With ASR Plus we introduce a third regulation mode: Auto-Cycle. Auto-A: ASR Plus regulates the setting in such a way that the crusher operates ata certain pre-set load. If the highest permissible load is chosen, the setting is alwaysthe smallest possiblesothatmaximum reduction is obtained. There is also automatic overload compensation for liner wear, so the crusher does not have to be calibrated very often. Auto-CSS: In this case you choose a desired set- ting at which you want the crusher to operate, This mode is also suitable if operating conditions are such that the crusher is not choke-fed. The actual setting gradually increases as the liners wear. The crusher must therefore be calibrated more often ‘Auto-Cycle: In this regulation mode, ASR Plus continually alternates—atpredetermined shortintervals between two desired settings. Two different product curvescan thus becombined intoanew desired product distribution which contains both fine and coarse ma- terialON crushing paren (> Five pre-set programmes There are five pre-set crushing programmes which the operator can select at the touch of a key. Each programme is based on a number of predetermined vvalues which define the aim and the permissible limits tc, for automatic setting regulation. The programmes incorporate a check feature to make sure that un- acceptable values are not programmed in by mistake. Over a period of time, ASR Plus learns how quickly the liners wear. It uses this information to regularly calibrate the crusher automatically. This can make it unnecessary to calibrate the crusher manually except at long intervals. Simple operation Al adjustments and all control inputs are made with a clear and easy-to-use panel. All directories and messages are presented in plain language on a text display. This can also be used to present comprehen- sive statistics on power, pressure, setting, energy consumption, lubrication oil temperature, operating times and liner wear. All alarm messages are also displayed on the front panel of the ASR Plus control cabinet, Ten languages are available! Control ASR Plus from your PC via WinPlus WinPlus is a PC programme for Windows. With this programme you can duplicate the ASR Plus control panel and its functions on your PC screen. Using a ‘mouse, the operator can activate all of the keys on the control panel. WinPlus can accomodate up to twelve ASR Plus systems. ‘WinPlus incorporates ready-to-use links (DDE) which canbeutilized toexchangeinformation between different Windows programmes.This is how it works Which crushers can be automated? ‘A prerequisite for the automation of a cone or gyrato- ry crusher is that the basic crusher has an hydraulic setting adjustment system of a type which permits repeated, rapid setting adjustment during operation with the crusher under full load All Hydrocone and Superior crushers have such an adjustment system as standard (the Flydroser system) and are therefore ideal for automation with ASR Plus. ASR Plus automatic setting regulation measures the work which is done inside the crusher ‘The power drawn from the crusher’s drive motor is, measured by a kW-meter and the oil pressure in the Hydroset setting adjustment systemis also measured. Thepressureis proportional to the force used to crush the stone. In addition, the setting is continuously measured by determining the position of the mainshaft the so called A-dimension. This value is shown on the front panel. The A-dimensionis used to calculate the setting and the liner wear. Ifthe mantle is raised to reduce the setting or to compensate for wear, the A-dimension will decrease, ‘The ASR Plus computer continuously checks this information and compensates with pre-set/pre-~ programmed values. Limiting values which may need adjustment during daily operation are the maximum permitted power and pressure, and the desired setting. ‘These values can be changed easily by pressing the keys beneath the display windows around the crusher symbol. The values programmed into the systems control the work done by the crusher For each crusher there is a maximum permissible motor power and a maximum permissible pressure in the Hydroset system. The crusher is either operated under full load — or ata certain predetermined setting. ‘The optimum setting is determined by crushing conditions ~ the size distribution and characteristics of the feed material, the other machines operating together with the crusher in question, the desired products, ete. If there is an overload, the setting is increased but is reduced again as soon as the load per Brey net pears Data Supply voltage 110 or 230V Supply frequency 50 or 60 Hz Control cabinet dimensions 300x380x230 mm (12x15x9 in) Control cabinet weight 11.6 kg (25.6 Ibs)Connections for external communication The standard ASR Plus control cabinet has a port for connections to a process control computer and can with advantage communicate with such a host computer. ‘An external signal system can be connected to attract the attention of an operator out in the plant if 4 serious alarm comes up. Higher production of the desired product The biggest advantage of automatic se is that the crusher can operate choke-fed and utilize the maximum permissible motor power. This means that the crusher can do more erushing work and that crushing is more even. \creased reduction There are two reasons for the increased reduction. ‘With automatic setting regulation the crusher can always be choke-fed and this gives a greater propor- tion of interparticle crushing, crushing material- against-material, in the crushing chamber. The second reason is that ASR Plus allows you to "close up” the crusher to a minimum setting, Better product shape The improved product shape obtained from an automated crusher is due to a high proportion of interparticle crushing thanks toa choke-feed and even load. Better liner utilization With ASR Plus, the liner life~measured in the quantity of material produced—is appreciably higher than what is possible without automation. The reason is more cevenliner wear, which permits better utilization of the liners. Advanced pressure registration ASR Plus detects repetitive rapid high pressure increases ~ pressure peaks — in the Hydroset system. Such pressure peaks can be caused by an unevenly distributed feed, packing, etc. The system first adjusts the setting. If the system detects repeated setting adjustments caused by pressure peaks, it warns the operator. Possibility of indicating worn liners ‘A built-in safety system prevents the mainshaft rising so far that the headnut comes into contact with the spider bearing housing, This same system can also be used to inform the operator when liner replacementis due. Better protection against overloads The setting adjustments provided by ASR Plus are immediate and proportional to the load. The systems reacts strongly to large overloads but only mode- rately to small overloads. This means that the crusher is protected in a very effective way. Reduced need for surveillance Anautomated crusherlooks afteritself, Theautomatic setting regulation system ensures optimum crushing, even though crushing conditions vary. Simple calibration ‘A Hydrocone crusher can be calibrated quickly and easily, Just touch a few keys and the mainshaft rises until the mantle comes into contact with the concave ring, That's it!
