Definition of Terms

The following terms are used in the study for clarification purposes

 Bandwagon effect – is a psychological phenomenon in which people do

something primarily because other people are doing it, regardless of their

own beliefs. Which they may ignore or override.

 Incivility – is a general term for social behavior lacking in civility or good

manners, on a scale from rudeness or lack of respect for elders, the word

is derived from the Latin incivils, meaning “not a citizen”.

 Anonymity – is used to describe situations where the acting person’s

name is unknown

 Toxicity – the quality or state of being toxic or the quality, state or relative

degree of being poisonous.

 Online disinhibition effect – is the lack of restraint one feels when

communicating online in comparison to communicating in-person.
