The CABINET of the Philippines (Filipino: Gabinete ng Pilipinas, usually referred

to as the Cabinet or Filipino: Gabinete) consists of the heads of the largest part of
the executive branch of the national government of the Philippines. Currently, it
includes the secretaries of 20 executive departments and the heads of other several
other minor agencies and offices that are subordinate to the President of the
Philippines.

The Cabinet secretaries are tasked to advise the President on the different
affairs of the state like agriculture, budget, finance, education, social
welfare, national defence, foreign policy, and the like.

They are nominated by the President and then presented to the Commission
on Appointments, a body of the Congress of the Philippines that confirms all
appointments made by the head of state, for confirmation or rejection. If the
presidential appointees are approved, they are sworn into office, receive the title
"Secretary," and begin to function their duties.

A BARANGAY or baranggay (/bɑː rɑː ŋˈ ɡaɪ / (abbreviated as Brgy. or Bgy.)),

formerly referred to as barrio, is the smallest administrative division in
the Philippines and is the native Filipino term for a village, district or ward. In
metropolitan areas, the term often refers to an inner city neighbourhood,
a suburb or a suburban neighborhood.[1] The word barangay originated
from balangay, a kind of boat used by a group of Austronesian peoples when they
migrated to the Philippines.

Municipalities and cities in the Philippines are subdivided into barangays, with the
exception of the municipalities of Adams in Ilocos Norte and Kalayaan,
Palawan which each contain only one barangay. The barangay itself is sometimes
informally subdivided into smaller areas called purok (English: "zone"), barangay
zones consisting of a cluster of houses, and sitios, which are
territorial enclaves—usually rural—far from the barangay center. As of May 2019,
there were 42,045 barangays throughout the Philippines.

A PROVINCE is almost always an administrative division within

a country or state. The term derives from the ancient Romanprovincia, which
was the major territorial and administrative unit of the Roman
Empire's territorial possessions outside Italy. The term province has since
been adopted by many countries. In some countries with no actual provinces,
"the provinces" is a metaphorical term meaning "outside the capital city".

A CITY is one of the units of local government in the Philippines. All Philippine cities
are chartered cities (Tagalog: nakakartang lungsod), whose existence as corporate
and administrative entities is governed by their own specific municipal charters in
addition to the Local Government Code of 1991, which specifies their administrative
structure and powers. As of September 7, 2019, there are 146 cities.

A city is entitled to at least one representative in the Philippine House of

Representatives if its population reaches 250,000. Cities are allowed to use a
common seal. As corporate entities, cities have the power to take, purchase, receive,
hold, lease, convey, and dispose of real and personal property for its general
interests, condemn private property for public use (eminent domain), contract and
be contracted with, sue and exercise all the powers conferred to it by Congress. Only
an Act of Congress can create or amend a city charter, and with this city charter
Congress confers on a city certain powers that regular municipalities or even other
cities may not have.
Despite the differences in the powers accorded to each city, all cities regardless
of status are given a bigger share of the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) compared
to regular municipalities, as well as being generally more autonomous than regular
municipalities.
