Landslide

Background

Landslides are the third (three) largest disaster in the area Indonesia after the flood and tornado disaster.
Research study area this is Dlingo Subdistrict, Bantul Regency. There were several disasters which has the
potential to occur in Bantul Regency, namely volcanoes, tsunamis, erosion, and landslides. Dlingo District
is one of the regions that is has the potential for landslides to occur next door east of Bantul Regency
and next to Imogiri sub-district. If seen from the topography in the area, Dlingo District is an area with
hilly to mountainous topography so it has become one of the factors causing landslides.

Based on the pie diagram, it can be concluded that there are 3 the type of disaster that has the highest
percentage of disasters, namely floods, tornados, and landslides. Flood disaster has the largest
percentage of events, namely 31.2%, nipple 20%, and soil landslides 16.4%. Landslides are one of those
disasters including the highest number of disasters in Indonesia so landslide mapping needs to be done.

There are many tourist attractions that have developed in the District Dlingo More than 15 tours in the
district. The number tourism that began to grow will also have an impact on increasing tourists who
come to visit, both tourists from the surrounding area and from outside the Province of Yogyakarta. The
number of tourists who come will lead to increased development in the area. The construction can be in
the form of settlements, lodging places, hotels, and shop houses and shops. These conditions can affect
and disrupting land use and the balance of ecosystems in the area alone. The next effect is the
occurrence of impacts that are often of the nature negative such as natural disasters in the form of
erosion and landslides.

The number of tours in the area cause burdens which must be borne by the land is getting bigger so that
over time the soil is not strong enough to support the load on the surface soil. These conditions will
cause the top soil to reach a point saturated when there is heavy rain so that the top soil becomes heavy
and slippery, there will be a landslide disaster.

High potential for landslides in Dlingo Regency mapping of landslides is needed. Therefore for minimize
the occurrence of disasters that will cause good losses in the form of materials and property and the
safety of the surrounding population, are needed mapping landslide hazards in the area to find out
potential distribution of landslides. The map can be used as disaster mitigation that can minimize the
losses caused due to landslides.

Mapping the potential of landslides is processed using software mapping, one of which is the ArcGIS
software. The parameters are used in mapping landslides is slope disasters, rainfall intensity, land use,
soil type, geological factor or its constituent rocks. These parameters are categorized in factors natural
landslides. In addition to natural factors, the disaster caused by human activity factors that affect a
landscape nature, such as agricultural activities, slope loading, slope cutting and mining. The final
information of the process in the software is a map distribution of landslide-prone areas that can be
used as a source of information for related parties as well as for the surrounding population
