Bhd. for PROPOSED SOIL INVESTIGATION AND TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY AT KM 19.3 NB, SENAI LINKEDUA EXPRESSWAY. The Employer of this project is Plus Expressway Berhad while the Consulting Engineer is G&P Geotechnies Sdn Bhd and the Project ‘Manager is Opus International Bhd. The field works for this project commenced on 26 March 2007 and completed ‘on 16™ May 2007. SCOPE OF WORKS The scope of work for the project consists of the following = 2.1 Borehole (10 nos) 2.2 Standpipe (8 nos) 2.3 Mackintosh Probe (50 nos) 2.4 Piezocone (2 nos) 2.5 Laboratory Testing 2.6 — Monitoring Data Processing Futher to the instruction issued by G&P Geotechnics Sdn Bhd fax dated on 19 March 2007. The scope of work for site investigation were omitted are as follows a Description Ommitted | Actual 1 Boreholes 3 2 Standpipe 1 x Mackintosh Probe 19 31 The summary of field testing carried out are presented in ascending order as in the Table | and Table 2. DESCRIPTION OF SITE The site is located at Km 19.3 NB Senai of Linkedua Expressway where is nearest with the Senai Utara Toll Plaza. The slope is approximately 240m in width and 8 berms that has been experiencing slope failure problems. FIELD WORK Procedures, method of testing and details of presentation of results are given in Appendix A. ‘CSU soil centralab scndirian berhad SLWORKS AT KM 19.3 NB SENAL Final Factual Report 5.0 6.0 70 41 Boreholes The borehole were carry out at the location specified by the Engineer. Standard Penetration Test (SPT) were carried out at 1.5 meter interval to get ‘N’ value and to obtain disturbed samples. Undisturbed sample were taken at depth instructed by the Engineer. Termination of borehole were 3 times SPT > 50 blows or 3m coring which ever come first. 4,2 Mackintosh Probe Test Mackintosh Probe Tests were carried out to maximum depth of 10 meter or when the resistance reached 400 blows/300mm. 43 Piezocone Test A total of 2 numbers of Piezocone were carried out at location determined by the Engineer. LABORATORY TESTING Procedures and details of presentation of results for the laboratory testing are given in Appendix A. The following tests were carried out by CSL’s laboratory. Classification - Moisture Content - Atterberg Limits - Particle Size Distribution - Bulk Density Strength Test é Oedometer Consolidation Test - Consolidated Undrained Triaxial Test - Unconfined Compression Test - Shear Box Test Chemical Test - Organic Content - $03 - pH Value - Chloride Content ASSEMBLY OF REPORT This final factual report is presented in single volume and the test results are arranged in ascending test number. SAMPLE DISPOSAL All sample taken either tested or not shall be disposal after six (6) months in CSL’s custodian, ‘CSL coil centralab sendirian berhad Method Statement MACKINTOSH / JKR PROBE TEST Scope This sheet describes the procedures used for Mackintosh or JKR probe test. The probe is commonly used for preliminary subsurface investigation as a tool to supplement more elaborate soil investigation. The probe can be used to assess the consistency of clayey material and the relative packing of the sandy materials, Often, the Mackintosh or JKR probe test is used for investigation of slope slips or failure on existing embankments. Standards and references used are: Ooi, T.A. and Ting, WH., 1975, The Use of a Light Dynamic Cone Penetrometer in Malaysia in the Proceedings of 4" SEAGC, Kuala Lumpur. BSI, 1999, BS5930 : Code of Practice for Site Investi Institution, London. tion, British Standard Equipment and Methods ‘The Mackintosh or JKR probe consists of a cased hardened steel cone. This cone is screwed on to a rod of 1.2m length. More rods can be connected to one another via a coupling. The cone is driven into the ground by a hammer falling freely along the guide rod through a height of 300mm onto an anvil. The total number of blows required for a penetration of 300mm is recorded. The test is terminated when a blow count of 400 is recorded over a penetration of 300mm or less. The probe, depending on the ground conditions, can be used up to a maximum depth of 15m. ‘The main dimensions of the equipment used are summarised below: CONE DIA | _DIAOF | WEIGHT ] HEIGHT | MEASURED TYPE OF DIA [CROSS [ANGLE] oF | courtinc| oF or | VALUE PENETROMETER | (mm) | SECTION | (degree) | ROD | (mm) | HAMMER | FALL | (blowscm) (sqem) (am) (ke) (om) TKR Probe 25 5 60 | 12 22 5 28 Mackintosh Probe | 25 5 S013 Hi] eee 24, 45 30 Presentation of results The results of Mackintosh or JKR probe are given on sheet: x sal Mackintosh Probe Which presents: a) A table giving the blow count at each depth (m) : b) A plot of depth (m) versus blow count. soil centralab sd, bhd.
