This week we focused on reading lessons in the classroom, in particular phonemic awareness.

Phonemic awareness is understanding that all words are made up of many sounds. As a part of your child's learning

we hope to allow them to recognize that they can use the individual sounds to make words.

Technology Uses

Two online activities that I highly recommend are https://pbskids.org/games/rhyming/ and

https://www.education.com/games/phonological-awareness/

At Home Activities

Rhyme No Rhyme- getting some pictures of items that rhyme and some that don't. For example, some pictures you

can do are a cat and bat for rhyming and then have a picture of a lion for a no rhyme.

Party Planet- Another fun activity can be alliteration games. You can say "There once was a planet and on that planet

were pears" then continue it by saying "There once was a planet and on that planet were pears and peas" then after

seeing if your child can continue by saying another P-word.
