Sociogram Making

A sociogram is a graphic representation of social links that a person has. It is a graph drawing
that plots the structure of interpersonal relations in a group situation.

Steps:
1. Determine the people to be involved
You should decide which persons should be included in the sociogram. This should include all
people who influenced you in forming who you are.

2. Make a connection
Using the legends below, connect yourself with other people. In each person legend, write the
name of the person below each symbol
*If you need extra sheet, you may do so.

Legends:

Person

Male Female or indicates the self

Relationships
………………….. A dotted line indicates a weak relationship (as the dots get weaker, the
relationship is weaker).

---------------------- A pointed line means, the relationship is almost non-existent.

A single line shows good bond

two lines a closer bond

three lines is a relationship which is even more important but also conflicting.

Attraction

mutual attraction

A line with a slash means a difficult relationship

A line with two slash means a rupture or cutoff relationship

A zig-zag line represents a conflict
