Ancient Civilizations
The Olmec rise of power was around 1500 BC. There was very good soil, they were confident with
their beliefs, and they had a good river basin for trade. They settled around La Vente and San lorenzo
because of the convinient resources near by. The area had well watered alluvial soil. The first know
empores was Merci.
The Olmec Height of power was around 700 BC. They had a good system going for their crops. They
would cut down trees, burn them, and use the ashes as soil fertilizer. They grew enough crops to
keep up with the population. The Olmec were soon dominate.
The Olmec decline of power was from 400 BC- 350 BC. They may have run out of trees, the river
could have changed cources, or they may had decided to rebel against their own groups. Not much
evidance is given for the mystery disapearance of the Olmec.

Maya
Rise
The mayans were an official civilization at about 426 AD. The first mayan king was Yax K'uk Mo'.
Mayans started to build strong cities. The cities traded with each other. The trade made them strong.
This was working so well that they built even more cities.
Height
Mayans built more than 40 separate cities all with their own government and king. They used these
cities to trade with the cities next to them making great achievments. These cities spread so wide that
they could get all kinds of things. They could trade a variety of things with other civilizations.
Fall
Many different theories are said to be the reason of the fall of the civilization. Some say that the soil
was worn out and they ran out of food. Others say that in many battles the Maya lost and cities were
destroyed. Droughts may have dried out the cities. Maybe the kings were too harsh and people
stopped working.
Inca
The rise of power to
the Inca was a success.
They had great war skills
and great leaders. They
also had many talents
which helped with their
all around jobs they
had.
The Inca was a very succesful empire. They were one of the best in the South West. They remained
at that height for a while.

Conclusion
These four civilizations were differant in many ways. The Olmec (1500-350 BC) were unique because
they worshipped jaguars and built giant stone heads. The Maya (1000BC - 900AD) were unique
because they belived that cenotes were a way to communicate with the gods. Aztecs regularly
sacrificed people and they were skilled warriors. The Inca did not have markets. Instead the
government gave everyone the amount of food they needed.
The civilizations were alike, too in lots of ways. The Olmec invented a calendar, like every body else.
The Aztec made sacrifices to their gods to please them, all civilizations did what they could to please
the gods. The Inca were famous for their extreme amout of gold, and all civilizations had a valuable
resource. The Maya had many gods, which they all had as well. The four civilizations were all special
in their own ways.
Aztecs height was when Emporer Moctezuma II became ruler. He made the Aztec society very
powerful.

Aztec eventualy gave out.
