Cultural factors for international business

Steve Jobs and Apple

Jonathan Hurtado Moscoso

Some characteristics of Steve's values were his sense of innovation; He was always looking
for ways to improve things. His vision and harmony with the market. He was a very
enterprising person; this highlights his sense of success. Many people report that he had mean
behaviors and obsessed with the search for beauty. The way he treats his employees could
qualify her as rude; but he also had attitudes that compensated for these. His demand was
noticeable when he asked for something. He did not accept a product until it was made
perfectly.

How did these impact Apple in the following areas

- Products
At the time that Apple introduced the Iphone, it revolutionized the market due to the power of
information processing that cellphones had. Another reason for his great fame is due to the
instantaneity of obtaining information from other people or news, people could live more
connected with society.
One of the great advantages of Apple products is that they describe it as “easy-to-use”
devices; Even a child can use it. Here we can see the great target that the brand has.
The "apps" added value to the Iphones because there is practically an application for any tool
that one needs. Basically simplicity and utility were the axes of his fame.

- Employees
Apple is looking for employees who love the brand and this starts when they hire it. At the
time of being in an interview for the company, the bosses do not care what your experience in
other companies has been (they already know this) they are looking for people who adapt to
their philosophy, their interest in technology, service to the client and of course his interest
with the brand. This is why Apple is so strict with its employees, but this is rewarded through
competitive compensation packages in Silicon Valley.

- Customers
Apple managed to create a fanaticism for its products, due to its simple but innovative
features. Virtually a blind man can use an Iphone, this creates a love for the brand. Many
consumers say that they cannot live without their Iphones, some did not question if they
needed it, they simply bought it thanks to the hook of the brand; it sounds silly but this is the
level of empathy that Steve managed to have towards his products.
Apple cares a lot about the consumer experience. They have created a service called Genius
Bar, where potential customers come to talk to an apple expert and can answer any questions
they have; very apart is that in their stores they can use the products to see if it is to their
liking.

- Other Stakeholders (society at large)

The stakeholders of Apple we can include: consumers, employees, investors and Employees
of Suppliers and Distributors. Investors are the major stakeholders. It’s clear that investors
want that their assets grow. The impact has been so great in Apple that since its release to the
stock market in 1981, has grown by more than 18,000% in its shares. This shows a high
return in investment of the company and its liquidity power that it has.
