Action: In addition to our routine activities of monitoring vital signs of the patients, we
had observed other surgical procedures such as completion curettage and cesarean
section delivery. Furthermore, we monitored a mother who had postpartum pre-
eclampsia. Besides observing, I had the chance to do newborn care this time aside from
delivering placenta and assisting doctors in suturing and midwives.

Reflection: I can say that I improved on this day because I am already accustomed to
the different fields in the sterile area of the OB ward. There was just a time where a
mother, who was under episiorrhaphy, held my hand and told me repeatedly in a low
and almost inaudible voice that she was in pain. It seemed like she was crying then I
felt empathy towards her. I kept talking to her and tried to distract her from the pain
by saying that the suturing is almost done, she can sleep because labor and delivery is
tiring, and that her baby has long eyelashes and cute eyes. I learned today the
importance of communication in our work field. We have to deal with different kinds of
people and communicating with them can make us better health providers.

Faith: Psalm 19:14 says “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my
heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” This line explains
that our thoughts and our words need to match what is on the Father’s heart. Good
and healthy communication will flow from our hearts to our words and then on the
receiver’s ears.

Action: I may not always be able to handle the clients in the same timespan but I will
make sure that I will treat them equally and convey them my interventions effectually
as Jesus exemplified in the Bible; healthy relationships with the people who
surrounded him have moved their hearts and then to their actions, imitating God’s
image and likeness.
