Senate Body sees Alcohol Tax hike OK in 3 Weeks

Alcoholic drinks, cigarettes and vape are very popular here in the Philippines. Many
Filipinos buys it every day as a part of their daily lives. If they were to approve to
increase the tax on alcohol products, it will be cost-effective for reducing the harms
caused by alcohol consumption. Also, increasing the excise tax on alcohol would likely
result in fewer people dying and getting into accidents.

It is also a good thing that the government would want to increase the excise tax of
some harmful products like alcohol and cigarettes while lowering taxes on good things
that society wants. Consumers, especially heavy drinkers are sensitive in a sudden price
change. Increasing the price can help to reduce underage buying some drinks.

It will be difficult at first since it needs a lot of process and budget but once it was
done, it will be a big help in our country. They also planning to involve e-cigarettes and
vapes issue after the increasing of alcohol tax.
