Japan’s Commitment to the Middle East for 2016-2018 : USD 6 billion
Prime Minister Abe announced the assistance package of around USD 6 billion for
the stability of the Middle East region at the Ise-Shima G7 Summit in 2016.
This commitment is now being materialized as follows:
- Contribute a concessional loan of up to around USD 1 billion over five years to GCFF
- Provide a new grant assistance package of around USD 270 million in 2017
- Receive 150 Syrian students in Japan in 2016-2020
- Support OPCW activities in Syria
