In this generation, technology is a big part of how children are taught in the classroom.

Technology is used in so many ways in the classroom. It can be used to aid the teacher when

teaching a lesson and better the students’ technology skills. For example, many teachers use

technology to allow students to complete their assignments, create presentations, and to create

their own presentations that aid them in teaching the class. Over the years, the technology got

more advanced and there are many ways to use it. It has become more and more popular in the

last few years and has grown to be useful for almost anything. Considering that technology is a

big part of teaching today, what do teachers do when they do not have available technology or

limited technology?

Having limited technology means that there is technology available, but maybe not

enough for the whole class to use. For example, there may be a computer lab with only 15

computers, and you may have 25 students. What would need to be done in that situation? Maybe

half of the class could work on computers and the other half could do desk work and after their

done with the computer assignment, they could switch. For younger children if there were

limited tablets, the students could rotate in centers where each group would get to have a turn

with the tablets. There are still ways to use technology in the classroom even if it is limited.

Limited technology makes it possible to have technology even if it is limited, but there

are some schools that cannot afford technology at all. Although technology is a big part of

teaching today, there were days where they did not have any technology and all they had was a

chalkboard and books. Teachers went years, decades without technology and their students

learned just as well as children do now. Technology is more convenient and easier to use, but it

is possible to teach without using technology. There are all sorts of activities that can be done to

benefit the students’ learning. Technology is great for students, but it also has its downfalls such

as social media.

Teaching with limited and no technology can be difficult, but it is doable. This generation

is all about technology and when you walk into classrooms these days you see promethean

boards, tablets, computers, laptops, and all sorts of technology. High technology learning

environments are super common today. Teachers use videos, websites, and all sorts of things to

aid them in teaching their lesson. Having all these aids can benefit the teacher and the students,

but also it is good to get away from technology. Limited or no technology may be more difficult

to work with than having all the technology, but it gives the teacher a chance to really show their

creative side. When having technology, it can be helpful, but also I feel it takes away from the

teachers being able to show their potential.
