AutoCAD: How can I enter Angles using Bearing and Distance

This is controlled by the UNITS command. We must 1st set the units then we can use the units in that
form.

Setting the Units

1.) Type in UNITS and hit the <enter> key
2.) The Units dialog opens and you will see on the left your Units of measure and on the right your
Angular Units.
3.) on the right side set the drop down to Deg/Min/Sec and select OK
Now your Units are set

Usage
1.) start a line command
2.) Select your starting point
3.) type @distance<Deg/Min/Sec (Example @10<20d30'20") and hit the <enter> key

@ = Sets the entry to relative so it treats your start point as 0,0

Distance = The distance you want the line to travel in the angle you are going to enter
< = Indicates the next entry is an Angle
Angle = The Angle you want the line to travel at

Proper entry for Deg/Min/Sec

20d10'20"

d = Degree
' = Minutes
" = Seconds
So the above would read 20 degrees 30 minutes and 20 seconds.

s= south and n = north so this would not be an option but if you want something like S20d15'0"w since this is reg
AutoCAD you can actually go beyond the 90 and use 180 or even a negative so this would end up something like
200d15'0" using reg AutoCAD we cannot use N,W,S,E however since this blog there is an option for Surveyor which
does allow these I may create a new blog for that in the near future
