Introduction

Overweight and obesity are increasing problems that lead to social difficulties for people. The
millennials and generation z’s of today are aware that beauty is now defined not by our inner
personalities, but our physical measures that create an impact of how society sees people. According to
the BBC news, millennials are now set as ‘ the fattest generation ‘ today.

Philippines commissioned a study by ARoFIIn through The economic Intelligence Unit and the study
conducted that majority of 5.1 percent together with 23.6 Filipinos are overweight during the year 2014
with a sudden increase of 24 percent between the year 2010 and 2014..

Problem statement

Among these days, being overweight has become one of the major problems in today’s society. People
who are overweight not only experienced body shaming, discrimination, bullying but the fact that they
don’t feel confident about themselves anymore. The reason behind this, is because of how they became
neglected about the importance of healthy lifestyle without having enough information.

Objectives of the study

The purpose of this research is not only to let the people be aware of the risks of being overweight but
for them to change their lifestyle into a healthy one. We conducted this research for better learning and
understanding of the term overweight, it’s bad effects and solutions in order for the people to realize
how important it is to take care of our body.

Scope and delimitations

Our study is only limited to the junior highschool students of the Montessori de sagrada Familia, grades
7 to 10. These students are the ones who are most likely to become overweight, likely because of how
stressful students can be that they tend to stress eat a lot. Not only that but they would help conduct
our research about the reasons behind overweightness among students.
