Significant Weather Features

♦   The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through   Amritsar, Chandigarh, Shahjahanpur, Gorakhpur, 

Nawada, Bankura, Digha and thence East­southeastwards to East central Bay of Bengal.

♦  Under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining West Bengal and Odisha and  
another over north Chhattisgarh & neighbourhood enhanced rainfall activity likely over east, adjoining central and north peninsular 
India during next 3­4 days.

♦  Sea conditions are very likely to remain very rough over central Arabian Sea during next 3­4 days.  Fishermen are advised not 
to venture into these areas  during the specified period.

♦   Heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain occurred at isolated places over Vidarbha from 0830  to 1730 hours IST  
of today.

Main Weather Observations

♦   Rainfall observed (from 0830  to 1730 hours IST of today): Rain/thundershowers observed at most places over Vidarbha, 
Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over Lakshadweep and   Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over East 
Rajasthan, Saurashtra & Kutch, Marathawada, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra 
Pradesh, East  Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kerala, Tamilnadu & Puducherry, odisha, Gangetic west Bengal and Andaman & 
Nicobar Islands.

♦    Amount of rainfall recorded at 1730 hours IST of today  (5 cm or more) are : Nagpur(Sonegaon)­26; Goa­9; Honavar­8; 

Ambikapur and Bajpe­7each; Shajapur­6; Chandrapur, Mangalore and  Malda­5 each.

♦  Maximum temperature departures as on 05­07­2018:  Maximum temperatures are  appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 

5.0°C) at many places over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and  Gangetic West Bengal; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at 
most places over Jharkhand, Odisha and Kerala; at many places over East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya 
and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra & Kutch and 
Tamilnadu   &   Puducherry;  at   isolated  places   over   Gujarat region, Chhattisgarh and Coastal Andhra Pradesh; They are  below 
normal  (­ 1.6°C to ­3.0°C) at most places over Jammu & Kashmir; at many places over Telangana, and Vidarbha; at a few places 
over   Coastal   &   South   interior   Karnataka   and   Marathawada  and  at   isolated  places   over   West   Madhya  Pradesh   and   Madhya 
Maharashtra and near normal over rest of the country the highest maximum temperature of 41.2°C  recorded at Churu (West 
Rajasthan) over plains of the country.

♦ Minimum temperature departures as on 06­07­2018: Minimum temperatures are above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C)  at many 
places over East Uttar Pradesh and Sub­Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at a few places over East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, 
Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and Coastal Andhra Pradesh; at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, Assam & 
Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and West Madhya Pradesh.They are appreciably below normal (­ 3.1°C to  
­5.0°C)  at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and below normal  (­1.6°C to ­3.0°C)  at many places 
over Andaman & Nicobar Islands ; at a few places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Telangana; at isolated places over West  
Rajasthan and Madhya Maharashtra and near normal over rest of the country.

 Meteorological Analysis     (Based on 1730 hours IST) 

♦   The   axis   of   monsoon   trough   at   mean   sea   level   continues   to   pass   through   Amritsar, 
Chandigarh, Shahjahanpur, Gorakhpur, Nawada, Bankura, Digha and thence East­southeastwards 
to East central Bay of Bengal.
♦   The Western Disturbance as a trough   with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly 
along Long. 72°E  to the north of Lat. 32°N persists.
♦    The   cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level   over eastern parts of 
Bihar & neighbourhood persists.
♦   Another cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level over east Assam & 
neighbourhood persists.
♦  The cyclonic circulation over south Pakistan & neighbourhood between 3.1 & 5.8 km above mean sea level 
persists.

♦  The cyclonic circulation over  northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal & Odisha 
between 3.1 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists.

♦   The cyclonic circulation over north Chhattisgarh & neighbourhood between  2.1 km & 4.5 km 
above mean sea level persists.
♦   The cyclonic circulation at 7.6 km above mean sea level over Marathwada & neighbourhood 
persists.
♦  The feeble off­shore trough at mean sea level from south Gujarat coast to north Kerala coast 
persists.

Weather Forecast for next 5 days *  upto 0830 hours IST of 11th July, 2018

♦   Meteorological sub­division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table ­1.
♦   Maximum  temperatures likely to rise by 2­3°C over plains of northwest India during next 2­3 
days. No significant change in maximum temperature over rest of the country during next 3­4 days.

Weather Outlook for subsequent 2 days  from 11th July to 13th July 2018

♦  Fairly widespread to Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls likely over central India and 
along the West coast.
♦  Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity likely over western Himalayan region & adjoining 
plains, east  India and Islands.
