Dear parent or guardian,

Howdy! My name is Bryan Pilkington, and I will be your child’s Social Studies teacher this year.
This is my first year teaching and I am very excited to learn and grow with your child this year in our
class! I’d like to start off by telling you a little about myself. I was born in Texas but lived in Charlotte,
North Carolina from the time I was about 3 until I was 12. I then moved back to Texas. I graduated from
Klein Collins High School in Spring, Texas in 2014 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in History from
Texas A&M. It was at A&M that I really began to develop my love for history and my want to teach!

This year in class I have some key procedures I want to try to implement with our students to try
to make the day to day operations run smoothly in the classroom. I plan to greet the students at the
door each day to make them feel welcome (and so that they know they are in the right place ) I will
also be using a classroom management technique known as the time-out hand signal to gather students
attention and keep them on task. (Feel free to ask me or your child about this!) Lastly as I feel it is most
beneficial for our class, we will be having assigned seats. The assigned seats may change later in the year
depending on how well each student behaves.

All in all, I am looking forward to a wonderful school year and I hope your child and you are as
well! IF you have any questions, suggestions, comments, or concerns regarding anything at all or would
like to set up a parent teacher conference please feel free to contact me at 555-555-5555. Or email me
at bryanpilkingtonjr@gmail.com. I You can also contact the school at insertschoolemailhere@gmail.com
or 555-456-7890.

Thanks,

Bryan Pilkington
