Students will use the computer to access reliable resources regarding the mapping and settling of the
Texas Coast, along with the effects on the settlers and those who were already there. Students will
record their findings. Next, students will continue working in groups to complete t-charts to compare
the positives and negatives of colonialism for both the settlers and Native peoples. Students will also
use Venn Diagrams to compare and contrast early Texas with Modern Texas. During all of this the
teacher will be moving around the room answering questions and keeping students on task.
3. Independent Practice: (C6)
Students will respond individually to the "higher order questions" listed above and turn in their
answers before the end of class or complete for homework if not finished.
