Education is the back bone of a nation. Education comprises of teaching and learning.

The
resources and materials used in teaching becoming updated along with the teaching and learning
techniques. Writing was earlier done on sand, walls, slates made out of wood, chalkboards and in
recent times on white boards and electronic boards [1]. Chalk dust scatter causes serious health
problems. Because of these reasons white board has been widely implemented into many other
sectors of human endeavor besides teaching [2].
Many researches and testing had been done on white board from a long time. Many variations
had been done on cleaning of whiteboard surfaces. Remote control motorized cleaners are made
in which the dusters are operated with the help of remote control [1]. This type of cleaner moves
horizontally by means of motor mechanism and erase the board with the help of dusters attached
to it but it could not create sufficient pressure on board. This limitation was solved by using
rolling whiteboard surface and fixed dusters [3]. Instead of moving the dusters the whiteboard
surface is moved around the rollers. The friction produced between fixed dusters and rolling
surface creates sufficient pressure to erase the written data on it but this process is too time
consuming to clean the board. This drawback was overcome by using microcontroller and
sensors but the longevity of board surface is short because it acts as flat belt [4]. Remote control
motorized cleaners makes use of belts which have low wear and tear resistance and with the
frequent operation of cleaning process, the belt is likely to cut and hence makes the device or the
cleaner less useful [3], [4]. Instead of belt, chain had been used to improve the cleaning
procedure but it creates too much noise [5]. Using cord and pulley arrangement the wiper bar
connected to the motors can erase writings on the board which creates less noise but it requires
four motors and two motor drivers causing too much cost [6]. These limitations have been
overcome by the proposed design in this paper. Only one motor and one motor driver with rack
and pinion mechanism is used instead of belts and large amount of pressure has provided by rack
and pinion mechanism with necessary supports

teaching and learning in schools.
The use of digital technology is indeed a different method of teaching and learning (Lim Kok
Siong, 2001).

The impact of developments in science and technology on our daily life and living standards of
the society cannot be neglected. The growth of technologies requested higher performance in
order to fulfill human needs and market. This project is implemented to make human work easier
and can reduce the use of human power because of its potential applications. This invention
“Automated Whiteboard Eraser” an electric framework, the principle point of our task is to spare
time. It's exceptionally difficult to invest our energy dependably in cleaning of the whiteboard.
Rather than this, we can control the AC motor so that the white board to be cleaned. This without
a doubt spares our profitable, valuable time. We can do this gigantic work, simply by utilizing
forward/reverse switch control. We decided to implement our course study and some extra
knowledge and with the help of electrical concept. The project Design and Development of
Automated Whiteboard Eraser can clean the whiteboard automatically with the easiest way to
reduce the time consume in hand erasing. This project basically works on principles of
electronics. The project is finished by utilization of 1 AC motor and controlled by means of
switches and relays given. The researcher’s recommended that the project needs improvement to
achieve high quality result.

I Introduction

Education is the way to discover new technologies in which education comprises teaching and

which has more functions such as writes discussion notes, sketch diagrams and so on. In any
case, the chalks we use on slates or the markers on whiteboards should be eradicated if next thing
is to be taught. Chalks and Markers can cause harmful health disease like pulmonary disease.

In some part of the world there are some one of their major problem is that the manual erasing
the board. One of this is in the Asian part and this is in India. In which the traditional blackboard
chalk dust is a common problem in the traditional blackboard-eraser-chalk architecture. This
operation produced a great deal of dust that is rather objectionable both from the standpoint of
health and cleanliness. These tiny particles of chalk may also land on devices or computer
equipment that would cause over-heating and severe damage. Also in case of whiteboards,
Permanent marker will affect someone whose has allergic reaction, possible ink poisoning and
side effects from inhaling ink fumes. This is because the permanent ink is made from organic
solvent. As the manual method is time consuming, implementing automatic cleaning mechanism
will definitely save the significant amount of time.

One of the ASEAN countries that manifesting their problem about the traditional process of
cleaning board is the Malaysia. In which according (Zhang, 2013) to “One of the reasons why
some students become bored because of lecture style and pedagogical style which accentuate
rote learning”. The students in Malaysia in which the style of lecture was teacher-center-teaching
it consume a lot of time and effort. For these schools, almost every classroom is equipped with
the electronic whiteboard to facilitate learning and promote engagement. The findings were the
students benefit the body of knowledge and bring higher level with the use of electronic
whiteboard.

In local areas like in the Philippines where in Davao city one also the issue was the consuming of
human energy. Every time when teacher writes a lesson in the board they exert energy just to
finish the lesson for it. In this project, to make human work easier and can reduce the use of
human power because of its potential applications. The electronic Whiteboard Eraser can clean
the whiteboard automatically with the easiest way to reduce the time consume in hand erasing
and the principle of this task is to spare time. It will be implemented the course study and some
extra knowledge and with the help of electrical concept.

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in

industry. As per age changes yearly, technologies development changes also.

According to the REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7784

 “An act to strengthen teacher education in the Philippines by establishing
centers of excellence, creating a teacher education council for the purpose,
appropriating funds therefor, and for other purposes.”

It means that it will enhances the type of learning and it will take the advantage for the interest of
the students to learn more. This project must be acceptable by the local government, community
based organizations and private groups and it shall helpful and efficient for them before
implementing.

II Project Context

This project is user-friendly in which it helps the user to work easily and has an efficient human
energy to consume. This was composed by different components; one of this is a microcontroller
which will use is Arduino AT Mega, this will be programmed that is connected to the sensor
which is the gesture sensor. The Gesture Sensor is responsible for the control that the user will be
given. The devices that are needed are; the servo motor for the rotary actuator that will allow for
precise control of angular linear position. The DC Motor which will be responsible for the
position can be then commanded to move and hold at on step. The A49688 driver for the step
and direction control interface.

III Purpose of the project

We propose a system to interface the mechanical aspects of the mechanical erasing system with
micro controllers so as to enhance it into automation rather than manual. We are using PIC micro
controller to interface the board erasing mechanism. It will lessen the human work in order to
have time in taking some work to do. It will also help the time consuming in every time that a
class activities.

IV Objectives

The project developers intend to developed and determined the level of acceptability of
Electronic Whiteboard.

Specifically the project is designed to:

1. To design a microcontroller based board eraser that has a functionality of erasing up and
down movements and the users desired part of the board to be erased.
2. To develop a concept that is suitable for that common problem that is experiencing by
some teachers in class discussions.
3. To implement the develop project to be used as an classrooms instructional material.
V Scope and Limitation

The research project focuses on the development and implementation of a

microcontroller based automated whiteboard eraser. The projects functions on the specific duty
on erasing the writings on the whiteboard. It will be having a remote control as its main control
for the erasers modes and functions. For the teachers desired part to be erased. The project uses
chain to move along the boards and the servo motor that drives the eraser linkages. The function
of our project is the use of erasing only the writings as for the designated part of the board. The
projects function is erasing from its original position up to its full extend of the design.
We only limit and focus our study in the function and specification of the project. This
project can’t erase the part where it has damage. This project can’t connect too far from the
Bluetooth module.
