PLATE TECTONIC
Plate tectonics is a scientific theory describing
the large-scale motion of seven large plates
and the movement of a large number of smaller
plates of the earth’s lithosphere, since tectonic
processes began on earth between 3 and 3.5
billion years ago.
NAME:
The upper mantle is where magmas are being
formed, and one of the reasons magma is
formed is decompression. Usually this happens
because of mid ocean spreading or mantle plumes,
but removing one side of let's say a cube of rock
is also going to decompress it somewhat. This
may cause generation of magma.
A subduction zone is the biggest crash scene
on Earth. These boundaries mark the
collision between two of the planet's tectonic
plates. The plates are pieces of crust that
slowly move across the planet's surface
over millions of years.
