1. Codes and Standards

Design, materials, components, manufacture, installation, documentation and tests shall be in accordance with
the appropriate codes, standards (latest edition) unless otherwise stated in these specifications.

Reference is made to the following codes, standards etc.:


• International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
• International Standard Organization (ISO)
• European Norms (EN)
• European Council Directives (EC)

2. Safety

Protection of persons
Effective protection hindering contact with live parts of electrical equipment and protection against incorrect
operation must be made. All equipment connected to a nominal voltage exceeding 50 V must be connected to the
protective earth by separate cores in the supply cables. Earthing connections to equipment shall be by properly
designed terminations. Anchor bolts shall not be used.
Electrical installations shall follow IEC 60364 - "Electrical Installations for Buildings"

Control System
Safety shall be handled according to ISO 13849 "Safety of Machinery -- Safety-Related Parts of Control Systems"

Explosive area shall follow EN 60079 "Explosive Atmospheres"

Control panels, switchgears and MCC


Electrical equipment shall follow IEC 60204-1 "Safety of Machinery - Electrical Equipment of Machines"

3. Marking

Labels
All labels shall be written in the English language or in EC (European Council Directives ) compliant form and in
capital letters. Labels shall be white with black text.

Marking of Cabinets
All cabinets shall be identified by an descriptive text and the equipment number according to the technical
documentation, alternative with an ID-Number.

All operating devices and instruments shall, furthermore, be provided with an unambiguous specification of
function.

Components installed inside the cabinet enclosure shall be labelled with self-adhesive labels fastened to the fixed
cabinet structure next to the component itself.

All enclosed live parts shall have danger labels (yellow/red).

Marking of PLC Input / Output Boards


The actual input or output byte address shall appear from the I/O board front label.

Marking of Cables
Cables shall be labelled in both ends with a cable number according to the documentation.

Marking of Terminals
Terminals shall be labelled according to the documentation.
Terminals for protective earth (PE) shall be yellow/green or labelled with the PE-symbol.

Marking of Plant Mounted Equipment


Motors, valves, junction boxes, instruments, etc. shall be identified by a label stating equipment number. The
label shall be located next to the component. The fixing of the label can self-adhesive or by using of an cable tie.

4. Cables

The term "cable" covers all types of cables, cords and wires, single core and multicore.
All cables shall be suitable for installation and continuous service in the ambient conditions described. The cables
shall have low smoke emission and be halogen free and lead free, alternative fire retardent.

5. Motors

A general reference is made to IEC 60034 "Rotating Electrical Machines". Standard 3-phase motors shall be used
wherever possible. Efficiency class for motors shall be IE2 (high efficiency) or higher. Motors with aluminium alloy
casing will not be accepted where they may be exposed to caustic agent. Motors with ratings of 5.5 kW and below
shall be suitable for direct-on-line start. Motors with ratings of 5.5 kW and above shall be suitable for star/delta
start, soft start, frequency converter or other start current reducing means. Motors supplied from a variable

frequency converter and motors rated 75 kW and above shall be overload protected by thermistors in the stator
winding. Motors shall preferably have a degree of protection equal to IP 54 according to IEC 60529 or higher if
required.

Suitable safety disconnecting means shall be provided either as a switch installed locally at each motors or in the
motor control centre.

Each safety disconnection switch shall have:


• Padlocking facilities in the "OFF" position
• ON/OFF indication
• An earthing terminal complete with washer, lock washer and nut, provided on the inside of the isolator.

6. Control System

Control systems hierarchy shall follow IEC 61512 / ISA S88 " Batch Control" and IEC 62264 / ISA S95
"Enterprise-Control System Integration"

Instrumentation shall preferably be connected by fieldbus according to IEC 61158 "Digital data communications
for measurement and control - Fieldbus for use in industrial control systems"

Programming of PLC's shall follow IEC 61131 "Programmable Controllers"

Graphics for user interfaces shall preferably follow ISO 14617 "Graphical symbols for diagrams"

Networks shall preferably be Ethernet based such as Ethernet/IP or Profinet with usage of SNMP (Simple Network
Management protocol) for direct supervision of network from SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition)
and similar systems. Networks shall preferably be redundant and control systems communication shall be kept
separate from administrative communication by usage of VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) and VPN (Virtual
Private Network).

If analogue transmitters are used in the installation they shall be delivered with standardised output signal levels:
4-20 mA with linear relation between process value and output signal.

7. Control Panels, Switchgears and Motor Control Centers

Codes and Standards


Special reference is made toIEC 61439 - "Low Voltage Switchgear and Control Gear Assemblies"

Mechanical Design
Cabinets to be installed in wet area shall have a degree of protection corresponding to at least IP 55 according to
IEC 60529.

Cabinets to be installed in separate electrical rooms may be IP 22 according to IEC 60529.


Cabinets installed in wet surroundings must not be placed directly on the floor and shall, if a risk of condensation
are exist, be secured against condensation by means of heating elements or in other ways.

Cabinets which contain a PLC's, shall, if the environmental conditions require it, be equipped with air conditioning,
unless they are installed in an air-conditioned room.

All cabinets located in dry areas shall have facilities for the entry of cables from the top (Exception: electrical
room for MCC). Cable entries to cabinets and boxes located in wet areas shall always be in the bottom through
water-tight conical compression type cable glands.

Cable entries, cable clamping, cable trunking, earthing, supporting devices and terminals shall be provided and be
suitable to accept the type, size and number of cables used.

The cabinets shall only be partly filled (app. 80%) in order to allow for future extensions.
Switch cabinet lighting: Fluorescent lamp incl socket, with door switch. The lamp and the outlet will be equipped
with a RCD 30mA for operator protection made by
Siemens.

Electrical Design
General
All components shall be of a standardised design. Electrically identical components shall be mechanically
interchangeable.
Network details depending on the network standard in the country/ plant.

Control Voltage
The preferred control voltages are:
• Motorstarter: 230 V AC
• All other applications including field solenoid valves: 24 V DC

Equipment for Cabinet Installation


Main Isolator
A lockable main isolator for total isolation of the cabinet from the external power supply shall be installed in the
feeder cable inlet.
If cabinet(include field position) there is power connection(380VAC) must be installed lockable main isolator for
total isolation of the cabinet from the external power supply. If cabinet(include field position) there is power
connection lower < 380VAC the main isolator must be installed in the source power cabinet.

Motor Starter Circuits


Disconnection means in the motor control centre shall be provided for each motor rated 1.5 kW and above.

The use of motor protection switch manual operated motor starters with current limiter is preferred instead of
combined fuse isolators and thermal overload relay. Each starter shall be entirely suitable for frequent starting up
to 30 starts per hour.

Push Buttons and Indicator Lights


Push buttons shall be selected with the following colours:
black = stop, off
white = start, on, Jogging
green = lamp test, Zero
yellow = stop automatic mode
blue = reset
Illuminated Push Buttons:
white = Machine, drive start
blue steady light = Error pending
blue flashing light = Machine ready to start
white illuminated sensing device = Control voltage on/off

Colours Lamps: red = emergency


yellow = anomal condition
green = normal condition, machine ready for start
white = in operation, motor running
blue = action operator required

Relays
Control relays shall be with plug-in base.
Visual indication of operation shall be provided.

Internal Wiring
Wiring connecting components (e.g. indicator lamps etc.) mounted in hinged covers shall be protected by a
flexible conduit.

All wiring outside trunking shall be orderly laced and bonded to the panel structure. Unless there is a different
local standard, which must be followed, the wiring insulation shall be colour-coded as follows:
Main circuits three-phase current
Phase L1: black
Phase L2: black
Phase L3: black
Neutral N: light blue
Protective earth PE: green/yellow

Main circuits single-phase current


Phase L: black
Neutral N: light blue
Protective earth PE: green/yellow

Control Circuits AC
- AC < 50V AC: red
- AC > 50V AC: brown
- Protective earth: green/yellow

Control Circuits DC
- Potential 24V DC +: dark blue
- Switched potential 24V DC +: dark blue

- Potential 24V DC -: dark blue/white

Other circuits
- Potential free contacts: orange
- Analog signals, Measuring wires: white

A maximum of 2 internal wires shall be terminated in the same terminal. All terminals shall be marked in
accordance with circuit diagrams and interconnection diagrams.

Termination of Cables
The rails shall be sufficient long to enable an extension of the number of terminals by 20 %. Terminals shall be of
the compression type and supplied in sufficient size. Multiple deck terminals shall not be used.

Terminals for each motor drive shall be grouped together. Terminals carrying different voltages shall be
segregated. Only one cable core shall be terminated in each terminal. As far as possible, the terminals shall be
arranged so that all cores from the same cable can be terminated consecutively.

Cable Glands
Cabinets, motors, instruments etc. shall be delivered with cable glands.

Over-voltage Protection
Surge protective devices shall be connected in the power distribution systems according to IEC 61643.
PLC's and other equipment sensitive to overvoltage caused by lightning stroke and otherwise shall be protected
by overvoltage/transient arresters connected to the general earthing system.

Finish
All cabinet enclosures shall be adequately protected against corrosion. Cabinets to be installed in the process
areas shall be manufactured from stainless steel AISI 304.

8. Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC

To ensure the reliability and safety of al types electromagnetic equipment the electromagnetic disturbances from
each item of equipment must be limited and also that each item must have an adequate level of immunity to the
disturbances in its environment.
The EMC for equipment shall be handled according to IEC 61000 "Electromagnetic compatibility"

9. Emergency Power Supply

An electrical signal stating emergency supply will be made available from the diesel generator plant if required.
The suppliers of plants and equipment shall ensure that only equipment can be started in case of emergency
power supply (e.g. by disabling automatic).

All equipment not requiring emergency supply must not restart automatically after a power cut-out.

This points have to be agreed, for the project, between the parties.
