Alfred Adler

 BIOGRAPHY
Alfred Adler was a physician, psychotherapist, and
the founder of Adlerian psychology, sometimes
called individual psychology. He is considered the
first community psychologist, because his work
pioneered attention to community life, prevention,
and population health. Adlerian psychology
emphasizes the human need and ability to create
positive social change and impact.
 BIRTH & DEATH
Alfred Adler was born on February 7, 1870, in Vienna, Austria
He died on May 28, 1937

EARLY LIFE
He suffered rickets as a young child which prevented him from
walking until the age of four. Due to his health problems as a child,
Adler decided he would become a physician and, after graduating
from the University of Vienna in 1895 with a medical degree, began
his career as an ophthalmologist and later switched to general
practice.
 Adler's Personality
Theory
Adler called his theory Individual Psychology because he believed that
people were unique and that no theory created before his applied to all
people. Adler's Personality Theory is similar to the Freud's Personality
Theory except that Adler's drive for human behavior is the need to
overcome the feelings of inferiority.
 INFERIORITY
INFERIORITY IS A FEELING THAT HUMANS
FEEL SINCE THEY ARE BORN. THEY GROW UP
BEING DEPENDENT ON THEIR PARENTS AND
FEELING LIKE THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING
ON THEIR OWN. IT IS HUMANS DRIVE TO
OVERCOME INFERIORITY AND BECOME
SUPERIOR WHICH CAUSES HUMANS TO ACT.
 INFERIORITY
COMPLEX
Inferiority Complex is a term used to describe people who
compensate for feelings of inferiority (feeling like they're
less than other people, not as good as others, worthless,
etc.) by acting ways that make them appear superior.
 FIRST BORN
Those who are first born get all the attention at first but then all that
attention goes towards the middle child. Now the first born feels
neglected and inferior and develops to reserved and conservative.

MIDDLE CHILD
The middle child will be competitive and constantly try to

YOUNGEST CHILD
The youngest child will be pampered and will feel inferior when left to
do things by themselves. The youngest child could also feel the need to
constantly beat their older siblings like the middle child.
