THEME:

THE WONDER
OFTHE CROSS
JOHN 19:28-30
I. There are some questions:

1. Can not man suffer for his own

sins?
Yes, but the full penalty is eternal
death & eternity will not belong
enough to pay the complete death
2. Can man atone for his own sin?
No, eternal suffering is not enough
3. Could God not first forgive sinner
without the terrible death in Calvary.
Sin has been committed against God
why couldn’t God just blot it out?
He could not for the laws of God must
be satisfied
(Romans 6:23) “ For the wages of sin is
death.”
4. If each sin require eternal death how earned
Christ suffer an innumerable number of death
in a few short hours of Calvary?
It was not the amount of suffering that counted
but the justice of God that had to be satisfied.
The fact that a holy sinless one suffered made
the difference.
The one who suffered was a mere man.
He was the God man (Timothy 2:3)
II. Jesus came to the world for a
spiritual purpose
1. To rescue man kind from satan’s
power. (Luke 19:10)
2. To give His life as ransom to buy us
back. (Matt. 20:28)
3. To destroy the works of satan in our
life. (1 John 3:8)
4. To give us eternal life.
(John 3:16-17)
5. To give us new birth into the family
of God (John 1:12)
6. To restore our fellowship with God
the Father. (1 John 1:3)
III. Jesus died on the cross for us
 Wicked men took the Lord Jesus &
executed him by nailing Him to a
wooden cross like a common
criminal.
 He could save Himself but He did not
for it was through His death on the
cross that God was going to save the

with Him because of this all who trust in
Christ are Ambassadors of Reconciliation and

Reconciliation.
