Johnny the boy who doesn’t eat vegetables

Once upon a time, in the barrio of San Nicolas there was a small family who live in a peaceful
place beside the farm. The father named Julian and the mother named Anna they have a son
named Johnny. Johnny is their only son, they love Johnny so much and they will do anything to
fulfill Johnny’s needs. Johnny is a typical kind of boy who enjoys his childhood life. Johnny is
already 7 years old. He loves to play outside with his friends all day long. Early in the morning
Julian already prepared himself to go to the farm because he is a farmer, while Anna go to their
backyard to harvest vegetables and sell it to the wet market but eventhough they own their
vegetable its still hard for Anna to sell it in the market because she has a lot of competitors.
Being a farmer and a vegetable seller is not an easy job, they need to work all day long just to
get higher income. Despite of their hardwork and lack of income they still maintain the love
they have and still having a happy family. Johnny is a Grade 1 student. In the morning he go to
the school and in the afternoon while waiting for his parents to go home he spend his time
playing around with his friends. Johnny is a jolly and cheerful boy. Johnny is a friendly one,
almost all of the children in their barrio is his friends. Their family is also a God centered, every
Sunday they didn’t missed even one mass, they believe in God and they believe that someday
God will help them to cope up with their situation. Eventhough they are lack in money, after
mass they still spend time to make Johnny happy and buy some little toys for him. Everytime
they buy something for Johnny and sees his happiness, the hardwork of the couple fades away,
because they know that all their hardworks are worth it. In their everyday life that is their usual
routine. Sometimes, hard times challenge their faith, just like one time, a strong typhoon wreck
the farm and the vegetables in their backyard. In those times, the couple didn’t know what to
do to solve their problem. They know that they lost a lot of money because of that typhoon.
They try to get some help to their close friends and ask for credit. They don’t want to spend
their savings because that is for Johnny’s future. They still didn’t question God in those times,
they still believe in Him. Days passed, they conquer that problem, step by step they conquer it
together. Little by little they started to earn back what they have lost. The Sunday came and
they thank God for helping them to conquer everything. That Sunday evening Anna prepared a
little celebration for the family. She serves a lot of dishes made of vegetables. The couple
became happy. Their son Johnny seems so irritable and sad by seeing the dishes. Anna made a
serving for her husband and son. They started to eat but as they see Johnny it seems like he
don’t wanted to eat the food. Anna got curious and sooner she discovers that Johnny don’t eat
vegetables. Anna got dissapointed to Johnny by not eating vegetables, because she know that it
will help Johnny to became stronger and smarter. Anna insist and try her best to let Johnny eat
vegetables but Johnny also stick to his wants, he don’t want to eat vegetable at all. Anna is
already done eating same with Julian, they leave Johnny in the dining table and told him that he
cant leave the table if he didn’t finish the food. Johnny don’t want that idea, that’s why when
his parents leave he make a quick action of throwing the foods in the trash and came back to
the table as if there’s nothing happened. Anna look back to Johnny and saw that his plate is
already done. She smile for that and greet Johnny for being a good boy. She didn’t have an idea
on what Johnny has done. Anna and Julian made an idea of making and serving vegetable
dishes everyday to make Johnny loves eating vegetable. So the following days Anna made a
dishes made up of vegetables and she did that the next following days. She makes that as a
routine. In that case Johnny became more mad at his parents, he thinks that they pissing him
off. Johnny always throw his meal at the trashcan just to make her mother believe that he ate it.
He became a bad little boy by doing it. His body became slimmer because he didn’t ate the right
meal that his body needed. He only ate at the morning because at the morning Anna didn’t
serve vegetable, she only serves vegetables at night. Johnny’s body became weaker and weaker.
One night while Anna is preparing for their meal, she notices that the trashcan stinks and when
she looks at it she saw the meal she serves to Johnny, Anna became dissapointed to Johnny at
those times, she told it to Julian and Julian became mad at Johnny, he lessons Johnny a lot of
things and told him the consequences of not eating vegetables. Johnny cried out loud he thinks
that his parents didn’t love him by doing that. Anna makes Johnny stops, she still serve Johnny a
vegetable meal but this time, they watch Johnny all time if he will eat the meal. Johnny turn his
back to his parents and run into his room and locked himself. Johnny didn’t ate that night. He
slept and in the middle of the night, he finds himself waking up because he is starving. He try to
go to the kitchen to find out for some food and when he didn’t see something he just go back to
the bed and decided to sleep because he know sooner it will fade. When he lay in the bed, he
saw someone looking at him at the window, it was a girl in a long gown and she is shining like a
star. Johnny became scared and when he try to walk and shout for help there’s no voice coming
out to his mouth and he can’t even move his feet. The lady came into her side and let him come
with her to their palace. Johnny finds himself into a cage with a lot of other children behind
him. Johnny shout out for help and whining. He’s so scared and wanted to get out to the cage
for him to go home. He realized that he was surrounded by a lot of moving vegetables and the
lady in her window is a fairy. The fairy let Johnny shut his mouth and told him that that is his
consequences of not eating vegetables. Those time Johnny was so scared because he remember
what he did to his parents and thinks that he cannot go back to his family. The children behind
him also didn’t want to eat vegetables. The fairy became mad at their noise and told them that
they needed to follow her rules and games to go back to their family. All the children shut their
mouth and listen to the fairy because all of them wanted to go home. Johnny listen to the fairy.
The fairy wants them to do some games that includes knowing the name of the vegetables and
to distinguish what is the benefits of that specific vegetable to their body. Johnny loses his hope
because he didn’t know anything about that. But something pops out in his mind, her mother
tell her what are the benefits of other vegetables. He hopes that the vegetable that will turn to
him is one of the vegetable that he know. The other children didn’t answer the question right
that’s why they didn’t go out to the big cage. Luckily the vegetable that asks to him is the
eggplant and he answers it right. He passed the level one and two more level that he needed to
pass, he can go home. Days and night passes, Johnny thinks about his parents he thinks that his
parents is already finding him and they are already sad because he was lost. In the third day the
2nd level was held, they needed to play a game and beat the human vegetables to passed the
game. And that game is to guess which vegetable is being described in the parable. That
challenge is so hard for Johnny, Johnny ask for God’s help to give him some hint or clue. Johnny
is so desperate those times. He only have 3 sec to answer the question and then the
bittergourd moves and he thinks that that is the sign he answer it, and his answer it right.
Johnny cries for happiness he knows that one more level he can make it. The night on the same
day the fairy cames out and told them the last level is to eat one vegetable. In that case, Johnny
loses all his faith and hope because never in his life that he ate a vegetable. But he also thinks
about his family, on what will they feel if they lost Johnny that’s why Johnny do everything to try
to eat a vegetable. Johnny only thinks of his family and for the benefits it will cause to him. At
last, Johnny decided to eat the string beans and by that time, he thinks that it doesn’t taste
good but it shocks him to realize that it doesn’t taste bad and it taste good. Johnny realizes that
what his parents told him are all real. That vegetables are delicious and it will help him to boost
his strength and immunity. The fairy congrats Johnny and told him that he can go home. Johnny
thanks the fairy and when he blink he saw himself at his bed lying. Its already morning and he
realize that its all a dream. Johnny jumped off to his bed and run into his parents room just to
hug tight his parents and ask for their forgiveness. His parents are clueless at his actions but
they are happy because Johnny realized everything. Johnny ask for her mother to cooked for
him a vegetable meal and his parents thinks he acts weird but they are happy that Johnny
started to like vegetables.

Golden rule:

Always appreciate what parents do just for the sake of our own health, If you dont want to face
consequences, always obey your parents no matter what happens, Parent knows best for their
child. Eat vegetables to have a strong immune system, and a healthy body.
