Analytical Chemistry

 Precision- is the closeness of data to another data

 Standard Deviation- shows how PRECISE your
data.
 Accuracy is the difference of the experimental data
to the actual data.
 Percent error- shows how ACCURATE your data.
 Moisture determination- is the most overlooked step
in the analysis of analyte and the most important
part of an analysis.
 Moisture content- of a sample must be removed
because the weight of the sample depends on the
relative humidity and temperature during analysis.
 Burret is LESS accurate than volumetric pipette
Crystallization forms colloidal particles that is easily
filtered and weigh.
 Desiccator- is used to stabilize the temperature of
the samples after it undergone extreme heat.
 Preheat the oven for 1 hour at 80 d Celsius
 Colloids- particles with dm of 10-4 to 10-7 cm which
are electrically charge, REPEL each other and
RESIST COAGULATION.
 Primary Layer- layer of ions held by ADSORPTION
on the surface of a colloid
 Secondary Layer- layer of ions LOOSELY held by
and electrically charged COLLOIDAL PARCTICLE
 Reprecipitation- dissolving of a precipitate and
precipitation on a SECOND TIME to MINIMIZE CO-
PRECIPITATION
 Peptization- process of DISPERSING AN
INSOLUBLE material INTO A LIQUID AS A
COLLOID
 Gravimetric factor or Chemical Factor-weight of
desired substance equivalent to a limit weight of
given substance
