Topic :

TVL track is designed to improve students with job ready skills that they will need in

the future.

Tittle :

The impressive TVL track of First Academyin grade 11 and 12 equipped students

with job ready skills.


INTRODUCTION

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Technical Vocational livelihood or TVL track is one of the tracks offered in

Senior High School under the K-12basic education curriculum and it has been designed

to equip students with job ready skills that they can use for employment.

The problem that the students may encounter by choosing TVL track is that

when students can’t enhance their own skills by applying it into their field of industries.

Some students doesn’t have enough self-esteem to show their own skills. Also the

students may encounter that their competency are not suitable for their own skills to

apply it when they are already deployed in their own fields. Choosing a technical

vocational livelihood track had also its own disadvantage when it comes to

enhancement of skills due to lacking of time when the time of training, cause the time

that was needed to be divided with the core subjects and academics subjects. The

students needs to divide their own time in order to cope up with their own skills

enhancement training and during academic classes.

An imbalanced time management can be the antecedent that the students can’t

focused to their own selves during their training and to be prepared well to show their

own capabilities as an individual.


RATIONALE OF THE STUDY

First published on 5th of October 2010, the k-12 education plan was part of the

former president Benigno Aquino III’s education belief that this will help minimize

unemployment and help give more time for students to decide which career to pursue

depending on their acquired skills. This program adds two or more years to secondary

level, other than kindergarten.

The senior high school program consists of different tracks to prepare students

for college in the field of work. The government is taking its lead to assure that

employment rate will increase because of the competencies that the TVL courses will

provide. The senior high school program aims to prepare students for human work force

because of the technical competencies that the program provides. The TVL program

composes of home economics, industrial arts, agri-fishery and information technology

that the students can select for them to prepare for the field of work.

In TVL courses, the students can also acquire National certificates in different

levels in accordance and guidelines set by the DepEd and the TESDA, a government

agency catering programs in different life-long skills. The National Certificates in this

level are recognized not only in the Philippines but in different countries as well.

The TVL program leads the students to different part-time jobs while completing

their degrees. It is the best course for them to know and observe different industries.

Focusing on discovery and developing students skills in other goal of TVL program.

The TVL courses teach the students to have different combinations of skills to explore

and acquire two years.


The department of Education’s k-12 program has already produced three batches

of senior high school works and why it has been included in our revised education

system.

Immersion as part of the TVL curriculum also allows the students to observe

applications of skills how to apply their knowledge and practices in real life situations.

In the end, TVL track plays important role in preparing students towards works, jobs,

and college. (head teacher 1 at mabalacat Technical Vocational School)


SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The result of this is perceived to be significant to the following :

School Administrators. This can be inferring to acquire the judgments on what actions

are suitable to help the teachers when it comes to teaching regarding TVL senior high

school program.

Teachers. Findings may help teachers to create their own strategies and style with

regards to teaching vocational courses.

Students. This study will provide data that will help students to understand the

struggles encountered by their teachers in the implementation of senior high school

program and also will enhance their knowledge and skills to become globally

competitive.

Curriculum planners. The outcome of this study will provide ideas to perceive what

to include and to exclude in the curriculum.

Researchers. The ideas presented will perform as a reference for future researchers

who would intent to make further studies or in testing the validity of other related

findings particularly in the problems encountered by Technical Vocational Livelihood

track in the implementation of senior high school program.


GENERAL OBJECTIVES

This study aimed to provide information about the impressive TVL track

equipping students with job ready skills. To be a competent one when they encounter

the field of industries, to be confident enough with their own capabilities ans skills as

an individual. It further aims to measure the readiness and effectiveness of the k-12

program as well as the challenges being observed by the focused group of teachers, who

are the instruments to a successful and refined school system.

Specifically, this paper sought to answer the following questions :

1. What are the advantages of TVL track under k-12 ?

2. How TVL track can help each students to be confident enough to prepare

themselves to face the field of industries ?

3. How TVL track can help each students to be a globally competitive ?


METHODOLOGY

Study Design

This study used a quantitative descriptive research.As a survey type of research

it will provide ideas to perceive the outcome of this study and what to include and

exclude in this research type.A survey research aims to determine the skills and their

speaking performance in order to build self confidence.

Study Setting

This study was conducted in First Academy of Skills and Technology Inc.

Located at Rodriguez Avenue,brgy.35,Bacolod City,Negros Occidental.Which

composes 143 students taking TVL track in Grade 11and 150 students taking TVL track

in Grade 12.All in all 293 students of TVL track accredited by TESDA (Technical

Education of Skills Development Authority).

.Instruments

The instrument used in gathering data is questionnaire.A questionnaire is

answerable by YES or NO.It is aquestion where the the expected answer is either YES

or NO. This approach allowed students to asses their strategies in more detailed and

contextualized way.Furthermore,the teacher and researcher explained each in the

questionnaire in detailed for all the participants.

Data Analysis

In this task, The researcher will allow the participants’ interest and

background knowledge to be determined by asking them to answer the survey. their

interest and background knowledge were determined by asking them to answer the

survey that listed the topics that might interest them and that is beyond their background

knowledge.

Table 1, shows the number of participants under TVL track which are grade 11 and

12 students who honestly answered the questions by YES or NO. This shows that the

students of First Academy of skills and Technology Inc. Under grade 11 and 12 are aware of

taking TVL track. From grade 11 both male and female answers the questions from 1 to 5

with the total number of 68 participants corresponds to the questions. For grade 12 both male

and female answer the question that also corresponds to the questions. The same with grade

11 students, they corresponds to the questions honestly from 1 to 5.

Table 2 shows that both grade 11 and 12 students who are taking TVL track answers the

questions correspondingly with YES or NO.

Therefore, that the grade 11 and 12 under the TVL track 0.98% of them both male and

female answers the questions that corresponds by no’s 1-5. While 8.92% both male and

female answer the questions that correspond the yes.


DISCUSSION

Technical vocational livelihood track is one of the tracks offered in senior high school

under the k-12 curriculum. Taking TVL track has been prominent in our field of education

since senior high school has begun. One motivation is to align themselves with the basic

education systems found in other countries. Senior high school seem to be equipping graduates

with sufficient skills and knowledge to be college-ready or work-ready. The best thing about

taking TVL track is that you will have a lot of options after senior high school and upon getting

your national certificates or NC.

Taking TVL track can prepare students for a number of work fields. Number one of this

is a communication skills, the ability to communicate well with other people. TVL track also

invests primarily on skills that can gain you requisite COC’s (certificates of competency) and

NC (national Certificates) which would be essential when looking for better career

opportunities in different areas.


CONCLUSION

In the light of the important findings revealed in this study,the following conclusions are:

1.The study determined that the students perception on the k to 12 curriculum.It revealed that

the k to 12 curriculum is an effevtive program that can help them to attain higher skills and

knowledge.

2.The study also determined that the students’ perceptions on the subjects of their chosen strand

were fitted and applicable to their strand.

3.The study determined that the struggle faced by the students regarding their strands is having

problem in managing their time.

4.The study identified how the students face the struggles in their subjects.
