The minor blues scale is a lot of fun to play around with.

It’s worth playing this simple chord progressions and


improvising up and down the piano, finding what sounds good to you. You can add in notes from the chords
you’re playing, try playing around with passing notes and even playing triplets such as [B, Bb C] or [F, Gb G].

When you start out, start out slowly. You can just play the root of each chord and improvise over that. Or you
can improvise over a song. I highly recommend improvising over Melody Gardot’s “Your Heart Is as black as
night” which works beautifully with a C minor Blues improvisation.

This, for me, was a great start to learning to improvise, and has helped me unlock the full width of the piano. Best
