10. At CAI list – freeze was clicked –Extended Channel Assigment Message was
double clicked and the result will appear. RESULT WAS RECORDED

C. PROCESS FOR HANDOFF

1.CDMA-info was clicked at CMT-5000 software.

2. CAI list windows was choose – resume was clicked as figure 14.

Figure 14

3.Number was dialled from Mobile Phone and call (don’t end the call).

4.Aries was clicked – Call setup (below left) was called – in the Base Station
column, Channel from 29 to 80 was change and enter.

5.Then, Channel from 80 to 100 enter, 100 to 120 enter and 120 to 130 enter was
change as figure 15.
Figure 15

6.Freeze at the CAI windows was clicked.

7. Handoff – [Extended Handoff Direct Message] was found – handoff status: Hard
Handoff. (Highlight the Hard Handoff and take a picture).

8. The Temporal Analyzer screen of CMT-5000 was observed as the figure 16.

Figure 16

9.The Channel from 150 to 29 was change back.

QUESTIONS:

1. Describe the call processing flow.

-when power is first applied to the terminal, it enters the idle state for continuously
receiving a paging channel through the initialization process and the system
acquisition process. At the idle stare, when the terminal receives a calling request
from a subscriber or a call from the system, the terminal in allocated a call channel
from the system through the system connection process and then enters the traffic
state. When ending the call, the terminal is always made to restart the system
acquisition process.

2. Describe the sms processing flow.

-After we send the message to Base station will receive the message. The destination
number is Number for the BS and Call Back Number at the receive message is the
Mobile Number for Mobile Phone.

3. What’s the advantage and effect of softer handoff?

- The effect of soft and softer handoffs on code-division multiple-access (CDMA)

system capacity is evaluated for unsectorized and sectorized hexagonal cells
according to an average bit energy-to-interference power spectral density, which
corresponds to a bit-error rate (BER) of 10-3

-advantage:

-Overcome fading through macro diversity.

-Reduced Node B power which in turn decreases interference and increases capacity.

-Reduced UE power (up 4dB), decreasing interference and increasing battery life.
4. Describe the following based on the result obtained:

a) ESN

-for originating message

b) IMSI or MIN

c) Other party’s phone number

-phone number which is real number to make a call message

d) Service option

-service plan either 3(0x3)

e) Assign mode

-traffic channel assignment which is mode of use to process message

g) Forward traffic channel

-From terminal to handphone

h) Reverse traffic channel

-From handfone to terminal

i) Forward mux option

-multiple signal on a carrier channel at the same time in the form of a single, complex
signal to another device that recover the separate

j) Reverse mux option

-for service connect message

DISCUSSION

At the end of this experiment that we can discuss in our topic is Cellular Mobile
Telecommunication. Based on our observation that we can explain in this experiment
such as is about the how call it process. The equipment that we used such as
CMT-5000 set which is had mobile telephone, Ethernet cable, DM cable and RF cable.
Also 9V adapter and USB cable. This cellular mobile phone trainer is supports
CDMA protocols such as IS-95A, IS95B and CDMA2000.The mobile phone and
commercial base station is integration with the front panel of CMT-5000.

First of all we need to set up the equipment such as in the figure below like the
configuration of CMT-5000.For the first we must connect the USB cable, ethernet
cable, RF cable, DM cable, Donggle and mobile phone to the CMT-5000.Which is RF
cable is connect to the small port behind the mobile phone. Next, turn on the
computer and check the USB cable is connected or not while choose the higher COM
port and then turn on the trainer on the behind button at terminal and then on the
button at the front of terminal. At ast turn on the mobile phone and wait until it ready
to use it.

While wait all the equipment is ready, at the same time at the desktop click the
Aries and execute Aries and then press the button reset to make sure that it will clear
with trouble when doing the experiment and wait until the channel card is connected.
When the CDMA is open at CMT-5000 and then clik CMT-CAI list only. From the
mobile phone we make a call that we dial any number phone and press call and then
at the same time end call and press freee at CMT-CAI.When the IP address is appear
we hightlight the number phone and go to originating message and after that write the
result.

This is process for sending message which is click CAI list and resume at Aries
click restore down and click sms icon. Then, we type any message and insert callback
number only.At the base station will appear the destination number for the BS and the
call back number will receive the message and then click freee and we got our result.

Last but not least, For process handoff that we can explain is when we call but we
don’t end that call at the aries at change channel we made 80 to 100 meter and so on
that will be when the distance is increase,at bar line mobile phone it will be decrease
or the signal is not strength.
Conclusion

In conclusion, we had able to understand the To understand the call processing

process in this practical work. Call processing process is the sequence of operations
performed by a switching system from the acceptance of an incoming call through the
final disposition of the call. Moreover, we also able to understand types and roles of
channels used in call processing. The types of channels used are verbal
communication and nonverbal communication. We also had understand the process
for sending sms and understand the concept of soft handoff and its necessity. A
handoff refers to the process of transferring an active call or data session from one
cell in a cellular network to another or from one channel in a cell to another. A
well-implemented handoff is important for delivering uninterrupted service to a caller
or data session user. Finally, the objectives of this experiment achieved and provide
enough description about the “Cellular Mobile Telecommunication” to the students.
