How to fix loss of suction on a dyson dc01?

Help please. Just got a Dyson DC01. The tube section seems to have a loss of suction, even after everything
has been cleaned out. I've taped up the lower rubber valves, can't see any holes in the tube and stripped it down
to the motor; which visually looks fine. Only thing I haven't done is change the filters, but I have hoovered them
out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Have you tried washing the filters? If there's really fine stuff in there, vacuuming it out won't always help
much. Dyson's troubleshooting page (www.dyson.com) is fairly helpful, but the 01 is the original model
from the early 90's and it may simply be time to consult a professional repair shop.

I have the DC24 Animal; it's fantastic so I hope you can get yours back in shape soon. Good luck!

Did you washout the canister. I own several Dysons. I usually take my canister out side and use a hose
nozzle to spray it out really well, and spray out the filters too. This usually works for mine. There's a lot of
fine dust that builds up in there, so simply rinsing it out won't get it all out.

Dyson has an awesome warranty. If it's been less than 30 days since you bought it take it back to the
store. If it's been longer than that call the Dyson customer service #.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

The problem you are describing is consistent with a vacuum cleaner that has become blocked. A
blockage in the cleaner will cause a reduction in suction. The problem that you are describing can be
easily resolved online by following a step by step procedure which includes easy to follow images. Please
visit http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?… . Dyson online Customer service is available 24 hours a
day.

However if you do not currently have access to www.dyson.co.uk, I have included the procedure below
which should resolve the problem for you.

Ensure your vacuum cleaner is unplugged before carrying out this procedure.

• Remove the soleplate to check for blockages underneath. (Please refer to your user guide if you are
unsure how to remove the soleplate).
• With the soleplate removed, check that the belt is intact and the brushbar is free to turn.
• Check the two black rubber flaps underneath the cleaner are clear of blockages. One of these flaps
leads to the top of the hose, the other leads up the main body of the cleaner.
• Remove the wand handle from the hose by pulling the metal pipe right out of the flexible hose. Clear any
blockages found in the wand handle.
• Remove the hose from the cleaner by first removing the clear bin and pressing the yellow button located
behind the clear bin. This will enable you to pull the hose away from the machine and remove any
blockages you may find in the hose.
• A blocked or dusty pre-filter will cause a reduction in suction on your cleaner. Therefore, if the filters are
excessively dusty, either wash or replace them depending on the type you have. If you have washable
filters, ensure they are completely dry before being replaced. Vacuuming up builders’ dust or similar may
lead to the need to wash the filter(s) more often.

You may find it useful to refer to page four of your user guide for information on checking for blockages in
your vacuum cleaner. Alternatively, you may visit the online help section of our website at the following
address http://www.dyson.co.uk/aftersales/help.a…

Should you still be experiencing difficulties with your vacuum cleaner after following the above instructions
or wish to order new filters, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298, 7am to 10pm, seven days a
week. Most parts for your cleaner are also available to purchase via our website at www.dyson.co.uk.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Kind regards
