Will the Mars colonisation mission envisioned by Elon Musk be successful?

When Elon Ree Musk introduced Tesla, there was this wave of scepticism from all across the globe
as to how successful an “Electric car” would be. Enthusiasts critiqued that the product would die
pathetically in front of the glorious IC engines. Sixteen years and five models later, Tesla has sold over
690,000 units, despite the fortune that the machine costs.

This data speaks for itself, revealing the visionary that Musk is.

Netizens were aware of this notorious workaholic’s ultimate dream well in advance- Colonizing the
red planet, Mars!

Nonetheless, it would not be wrong if one was baffled by the categories of companies he set up,
supposedly to get there. An internet company (PayPal), a car company (Tesla), a tunnelling company
that also produced flamethrowers, named “Not a Flamethrower”! (The boring company) and last but
not the least, a space exploration company (SpaceX)

However, if one is diligent enough, it is not very challenging to see the big picture Musk drew. PayPal
delivered him an enormous amount of cash, which he invested in Tesla. Developing electric vehicles
are essential. Well, unless there are 24x7 gas stations on Mars.

Next, comes the perfectly logical Boring company. Although Musk presented this as a way to tackle
the LA traffic, the fact that the technology is going to be pretty handy when you want to build bunkers
on the Martian surface is no happy coincidence.

And finally, SpaceX. The obvious one. The red planet is 225million kilometres away, and one needs
something capable of pulling him/her off of the Earth’s gravitation and taking them there within their
lifetime. Rockets do an excellent job at this. Musk went the extra mile to repurpose the Solid Rocket
Boosters by returning them to earth. When people asked if this were to make more profits, he tweeted
out that if making money was his goal; he would have set up another internet firm and never a space
exploration company in the first place.

So, if the question is Will the Mars colonisation mission envisioned by Elon Musk be successful? Well
then, the answer is a resounding yes!
