Adopt a Peer Lesson #1 Plan--Brass Techniques Kelly Rock

I. Objectives: ​Student will be able to play a concert Bb major scale on trumpet at 110 BPM
with correct fingerings and correct breath support.
II. Procedures:
a. Teacher will play up and down the concert Bb major scale on piano
b. At the same time, the student will sing the pitches and finger along with the notes
c. Student will then play concert Bb major scale at 70 BPM
d. Teacher will choose a rhythm for the scale and sing it to the student
e. The student will repeat back the rhythm
f. The student will play the scale in the correct rhythm at 90 BPM
g. The student will then play the scale with the same rhythm at 110 BPM
h. The student will play the scale up and down on quarter notes at 110 BPM
III. Assessment: ​A short playing “test” with this rubric:
1 First and last note were correct
2 Correct scale with a couple of tonal mistakes
3 No tonal mistakes
4 All correct notes with consistent tempo of 110 bpm
