trends!–!progress!does!not!proceed!linearly!with!time.!

Management!at!MichiChem!recognizes!that!our!
Design!Reviews!will!be!taking!place!in!the!first!
half!of!the!project,!before!much!of!the!detailed!

Technical!Objectives!

• Identify!erroneous!or!overly!optimistic!assumptions!
• Ensure!that!all!inputs!and!outputs!to!the!process!have!been!identified!
• Evaluate!closure!of!mass!balances!
• Assess!qualitative!energy!requirements!for!the!process!
To!facilitate!achieving!these!outcomes,!each!design!team!will!meet!with!Dr.!Tadd,!one!of!the!
Technical!Communication!faculty,!and!either!their!team!supervisor!(if!possible)!or!an!
outside!engineering!resource.!!As!described!previously,!the!review!will!open!with!a!very!
brief!presentation,!then!move!to!a!discussion/analysis!of!the!process!focused!on!the!
Process!Flow!Diagrams.!
Prior!to!the!meeting,!you!will!need!to!submit!your!brief!slide!deck!and!your!PFDs!(.pdf!
format,!please).!!Meeting!attendees!will!review!the!drawings!prior!to!the!meeting,!and!
come!prepared!to!discuss!questions!they!may!have!about!the!process.!!The!team!is!also!
expected!to!provide!one!set!of!hard!copy!PFDs,!in!11”x17”!format,!for!markups!and!
discussion!at!the!design!review.!(Please!see!the!guidelines!on!Canvas!for!assistance!with!
printing!on!11”x17”!paper!in!the!Duderstadt!Library!printers.)!
