Job: Outreach Assistant of VAW Vietnam
Location: Can Tho and surrounding areas

Job Summary:
Volunteers Around the World is a humanitarian organization based out of the United States that is
devoted to improving the standard of living for those that live in some of the most poverty stricken
communities of the world. Our focus is to provide communities with access to medical, dental and
veterinary treatment, medication, nutritional security, clean water, and health education. We are
looking for an Outreach Assistant, who is responsible for leading the team of volunteers during their
time in-country, ensuring their wellness and safety as well as maintaining an open line of
communication between the Site Outreach Coordinator, the Team Leader and every member of the
team.

Primary job responsibilities when teams are in country:


● Help with the preparation of logistics (materials, equipment, medication, supplies) before
the volunteers arrival
● Guide and assist every volunteer activity during the 2 weeks they are in country (from
airport pick up to clinic work)
● Lead the Orientation Meetings with volunteers to provide basic and important orientation
to adapt to the local culture and develop their work following VAW Guidelines
● Supervise the optimal performance of the free mobile clinics for underserved
communities during 6 days, being a liaison between Medical, Dental, Veterinary and
Global Health Staff, SOC, volunteers and the community
● Mentor volunteers to practice and perform their Global Health Education Class with
children
● Assist volunteers and help them coordinate activities for their Cultural Exchange Days
● Daily report of the volunteers activities, participant list and inconveniences to the SOC
● Assist in any last minute situation assigned by the SOC

Job requirements:
● Advanced level of English (must have a high level of conversational English, both oral
and written, as it will be the primary language of communication for the 2 weeks
volunteers are in-country)
● Demonstration of punctuality, maturity and responsibility
● Excellent communication and organizational skills
● Flexibility and customer service oriented

Compensation:
USD$250-$500 per group (two to three week periods). Salary to be determined based on prior
experience. The first seasonal period of this position will begin in May 2020. However, during
December 2019 the selected candidates will go through a 6 day probationary training period.
Work schedule:
● 24/7 on call during the 14 days that the team is in country
● 1 week part time availability prior to the arrival of the team for preparation (2-4 hours per
day)
● 2-3 days part time availability after team's departure for closure
