SOP On Handling Diverted Flights national Flights
INTRODUCTION
Aircrafts are diverted due to technical malfunction, bad weather over
destination or medical emergency on board. Such aircrafts have to be facilitated, so
that the aircraft's turnaround is kept to a minimum time.
PURPOSE
Diverted aircrafts have to be cleared within the shortest span of time so that it
can reach its destination at the earliest. For this a SOP should be developed and
followed strictly to minimize the layover time.
SCOPE
The SOP has been developed for better co-ordination among all concerned
departments for faster clearance of the diverted flight. This SOP is in addition to the
rules and regulations applicable at present.
TERMS
For the release of diverted flight submission of flight plans, payment of landing &
parking charges, fulfilling Customs and Immigration formalities, if any, is mandatory.
CO-ORDINATION
All agencies shall co-ordinate with each other in such a manner so that they may take
necessary action to ensure the speedy departure of the diverted aircraft.
DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION
‘On receipt of information regarding diverted flight (from ATC/Apron Controller),
Airport Manager -IT, AAT will disseminate oe to concerned agenciesPass on information regarding Diversion to Apron Control
Apron Control shall perform the following on receipt of information from ATC:
i. Provide a parking stand in accordance to reason of diversion,
ii, Inform Airport Manager [International] AAT.
ili, Shall provide Follow-Me service, if required
iv, Obtain reason for diversion along with origin/destination of aircraft, type of aircraft,
POB, FOB, ETA, operator, registration. .
v. _ Advise Fire Control for dispatching Ambulance in case of medical/death on board case.
Airport Manager {International -AAT] shall_perform the following on receipt of
information from Apron Control:
i. Inform concerned airline/GHA on receiving information about diverted flight.
ii, Inform Immigration, Customs, CISF, APHO (in case of sick / dead pax).
iii, Inform DGCA.
iv. Inform AAT doctor in case of medical emergency and APHO in case of death on board
& co-ordinate with CISF for removal of dead body from airport,
v. Co-ordinate with Immigration for speedy clearance of sick pax and accompanying pax.
vi. Facilitate removal of dead body through Police
2. On completion of 1 shall :
Proceed to briefing office within 1Sminutes & ensure receipt of payment of
applicable charges.
Airlines shall perform the following on receiving information from Airport Manager (ITB)
i. Disseminate information regarding route, Acft. Type, POB, FOB, nature of trouble to
Customs, Immigration and ATC.
ii, Inform Oil Company and Caterer.
iii, Inform Airport Manager [Intl.] in case of sick/dead pax on board- pax name,
nationality, nature of illness, whether accompanied,
iv, Receive feedback from doctor on board, if any.
v. Take baggage details.
vi. Provide additional pax details like pax manifest, sick/dead pax details.
vii, In case of technical diversion, technical fault data, FOB, DGR on board, cargo
manifest, MTOW
viii, Provide the following documents:
‘Stamped General Declaration-O1 each to Immigration, Customs, Airport Manager, AAT
& pax manifest -04 copies, IGM on arrival & EGM on departure.
ix. Shall inform respective embassy in case of foreign nationals.{ Airlines : On completion of above & before departure shall
i. Submit flight plan with Briefing Office with a copy to Airport Manager, AAT.
ii, Provide a General Declaration to CISF for Security Check Certificate.
iii, Clearance of the dead body shall be the responsibility of the airlines clearance from
local police.
iv. Proceed to the Briefing Office for filing flight plan for departure of flight.
In the absence of the Airline or its GHA at VECC, AOC Chairman will co-or with
the concerned airline rep. & the handling to be done as per this SOP.
Customs & Immigration shall perform the following on receipt of information from
Airport Manager (TTB):
Proceed to the Briefing Office within 15 minutes and complete relevant formalities for
release of the diverted flight.
CISF shall perform the following on receipt of information from Airport Manager (ITB):
Proceed to Briefing Office within 15minutes and complete Security Check Certificate
after being provided a stamped General Declaration by the airlines.
APHO shall perform the following on receipt of information from Airport Manager (ITB):
Proceed to Briefing Office within 15 minutes on receipt of information of death on board
& prepare Death Certificate.
Briefing Office: The Briefing Officer shall ensure the speedy clearance of the diverted
flight after the airlines or group company makes necessary payment & provides relevant
documents .
