Cruyff called by Barcelona fans.The Dutch known for his skills and
agility as a player and revolutionize tactics as a coach.

EARLY LIFE
Hendrick Johannes “Johan” Cruijff was born on 25 April 1947 in
Amsterdam.Cruyff inspired to play football by his football-loving
father and older brother.Cruyff idolized the prolific Dutch
dribbler,Fass Wilkes.

CLUB CAREER

Cruyff discovered by Ajax youth coach Jany van der Veen,he

noticed Cruyff’s talent and decided to offer him a place at Ajax
outh system.Cruyff joined the Ajax youth system on his tenth
birthday.He made his first team debut on 15 November 1964
scoring the only goal for Ajax in 3-1 defeat against GVAV.Cruyff
established himself as a regular team in the 1965-66 season.Cruyff
carees with Ajax was astonishing as The Dutch won eight Eredivisie
titles, five KNVB Cup,3 European Cup,one UEFA Super CUP,one
Intertoto cup,and 1 Intercontinental cup.Cruff won 2 Ballon d’Or
with Ajax.

In mid-1973,Cruyff was sold to Barcelona for 6 million guilders.At

that time Cruyff was the most expensive player in the world.Cruyff
became the main star at Barcelona as he help the club won the La
Liga title for the first time since 1960.Cruyff scored one of his most
famous goal with Barcelona, “The Phantom Goal”.In
1978,Barcelona defeated Las Palmas 3-1,to win the Copa Del Rey.

Cruyff nearly retired in 1978.But after losing most of his money he

dicided to become a footballer again and he thought that it was to
young for his age to retire at 31 with the unique talent I
possessed.At the age of 32,Cruyff signed a deal with the Los
Angeles Aztecs of the North American Soccer League(NASL).He
stayed at the Aztecs for only one season, and was voted NASL
Player of The Year.The Following season he move to play for
Washington Diplomats.

In January 1981 Cruyff signed for Spansh Segunda Division side

Levante.He only made ten appearances,scoring two goals and
failed to carry Levante to the first division.
Cruyff rejoined with Ajax on 30 November 1980.Cruyff helped Ajax
to become league champions twice in a row In the 1981-82 and
1982-83 seasons.In 1982-83,Ajax won the KNVB Cup.

Ajax decided not to offer Cruyff a new contract.Ajax made Cruyff

angry with that decision and he responded by signing Ajax’s rival
Feyeenoord.Cruyff won Eredivise and two KNVB Cup with
Feyenoord.Despite his relatively advanced age,Cruyff played all
league matches at that season except for one.He was voted as
Dutch Footballer of the Year because of his awesome performance
on the field.He announced his final retirement at the end of the
season.Cruyff played his last game against Al-Ahli carried out one
goal and assist.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER
As a Dutch internatonal,Cruyff played 48 matches and scoring 33
goals.The national team never lost a match in which Cruyff
scored.He made his debut for the Netherlands in the UEFA Euro
1968 qualifier againt Hungary.Cruyff led Netherlands to a runners-
up medal in the 1974 World Cup and was named player of the
tournament.Cruyff retired from international Football in October
1977

AS A MANAGER

Cruyff was one of the best manager at his era as he carried Ajax to
win KNVB Cup twice and an UEFA CUP WINNERS’Cup.Cruff trusted
by Barcelona to manage the team and he manage to win four La
Liga,One Copa del Rey:1989-90,Three Supercopa de Espana,one
UEFA Champions League,one UEFA Cup Winners’Cup,and one
UEFA Super Cup.

DEATH

Cruyff died at the age of 68 ,on the morning 24 March 2016 after
fighting a long battle with lung cancer.
