Design Program for Amanda Bee

Client Overview
Amanda is a single female in her late 20s. She leads a
healthy eating lifestyle, she goes to the market twice a week and
mostly eats vegetarian dishes. Amanda needs the space to have
universal design and capable of accommodating a wheel-chair in
the future as she has a degenerative disease. She works as a
freelance graphic designer from home and preps her food daily.
Amanda has friends over at least twice a week.

Project Description and Goals

Amanda lives in downtown Portland in a revamped warehouse.
The kitchen still retains some warehouse design features. The
floors are wood planks, which Amanda does not plan on changing.
The kitchen is open to the family room, since Amanda likes to
entertain she would like this space to accommodate having people
over. She would like space for people to sit at an island or
peninsula. When people are over there needs to be space for 2
cooks to be in the kitchen at once. Because of her entertaining
she feels that a warming drawer would be a nice feature to have
in her kitchen. Amanda needs a space to store at least 5 wine
bottles and stemware.
Amanda would like to see some sustainable design elements
incorporated into her new kitchen, natural stone, wood cabinets
and LED lighting. She prefers Mid-Century modern and Scandinavian
style.
