SAP in the Business Trend: The most adaptable on-demand business solution

Abstract

Introduction
In a fast paced environment, every organization needs to properly maintain its essential records
like list of assets, service records, materials and product to be globally competitive. And in the process of
maintaining critical records, problems like lost of data, inaccurate information, and difficulty generating
reports can be a threat in an organization’s productivity and preventing it from gaining competitive
advantage among others. Information technologist implements an information system software to an
organisation to identify and solve the problem in maintaining records of the business operation.
Information system is a group of IT related components like computer hardware and software, storage of
devices and update procedures designed to perform specific tasks.
One of the leading information systems introduced in the market is the System Application and
Products (SAP). AGS (ABM Global Solutions) is an ePLDT company a business solutions provider of
choice offering applications software and implementation services fitted to the needs of an organisation
and among their offerings SAP is the most popular and used information system by their customers. AGS
company is also the most recognised reseller of SAP application software in the Philippines.
This research arises from the success rate and the growing population of users of SAP application
software. AGS does not only provide SAP but also other known information system is an ePLDT
company which is well-know in this kind of industry. AGS provides their services to many known
company’s and organization in the country.
This research is made to help the company find more ways to improve the services they provide
to their customers and look deeper on those daily problems they face in providing this kind of information
system software. It will thoroughly discuss the flexibility and usability of the software in a business
operations big or small. This research will also explain why it is the most used system software
application in the country and abroad.
Statement of the Problem

For a business owner, some of the hardest parts of the job are paperwork, logistics and other
time consuming tasks. Previously, business owners had to spend so much time worrying about
all these aspects that they barely had time for anything else but technology has emancipated them
from these tedious processes so that they can work more constructively to build their business.
Better security systems, cheaper marketing strategies and more user friendly software have made
owning and operating a business easier than ever.

With the drive to help businesses and public sector organizations accelerate business growth
and deliver high performance over the long term, SAP made itself a well-known software in the
business industry. This study aims to determine the importance of the SAP as a tool in excellence
with the business operation. More specifically, this study will discuss the following objectives:

1. Determine the level of effectiveness of SAP in business operation in terms of flexibility,

usability, accuracy and efficiency in transactions
2. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages in business operations of SAP users.
3. Identify the problems encountered of its users and provide solutions how to improve
these.

Research Methodology

Researchers used a Qualitative and descriptive form of research design to describe the
level of effectiveness in business transactions of SAP system software through the experiences of
the users and distributors of the software. The researchers listed 15 interview questions for five
(5) selected employees and users of the company as their sample respondents. The researchers
performed a one on one interview with the five selected individuals and recorded their answers,
they also reviewed blogs, reports and articles and analyzed the data gathered.
To fully understand the reasons as to why the use of SAP is very in demand in business
day to day transactions, the researchers conducted a one on one interview with the users at the
same time distributors and maintenance personnel of the SAP system.

Research Instrument and Validation and Ethical Consideration

To identify the level of effectiveness of SAP application software, the researchers conducted a one
on one interview with the selected five (5) employees from AGS company which is one of the leading
business solution provider and top partner of SAP solution software for years. The researchers listed a ten
general questions with follow-up questions for specification of some information. The questions were
based on the experiences of the employees as a SAP software user and as a SAP software provider. The
locale of the study was in Ayala, Makati.
Sample Population and Data Gathering Procedures

The sample population for this research defined to include employees from AGS (ABM Global
Solutions) which is a provider of System Application and Products (SAP) and some of AGS clients who
uses SAP as their business solution software, while the accessible population is only the employees of
AGS, since these employees are SAP software users within the researchers’ reach.
The researchers conducted the interview with the selected employees from AGS that includes an IT
employee, manager and a employees who uses SAP from day to day transaction. The interview was
conducted inside the AGS building which is an ePLDT company and SAP software provider located in
Ayala.
