[Verse 1]
I can’t remember anything
Can’t tell if this true or dream
Deep down inside i feel to scream
This terrible silence stops with me
Now that the war is through with me
I’m waking up, I can not see
That there’s not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now

[Chorus]
Hold my breath as i wish for death
Oh please God, wake me
[Verse 2]
Back in the womb it’s much too real
In pumps life that i must feel
But i can’t look forward to reveal
Look the time when i’ll live
Fed through the tube that sticks in me
Just like a wartime novelty
Tied to machines that makes me be
Cut this life off from me

[Chorus]
Hold my breath as i wish for death
Oh please God, wake me
[Chorus]
Now the World is gone, i’m just one
Oh, God help me
Hold my breath as i wish for death
Oh please God, help me

[Verse 3]

Darkness imprisoning me
All that i can see, absolute horror
I can not live, i can not die

Trapped in myself, body my holding cell

Landmine has taken my sight
Taken my speech, taken my hearing
Taken my arms, taken my legs
Taken my soul, left me with life in hell
• In the first verse;

Can’t tell if this true or dream

Deep down inside i feel to scream
‘Dream’ and ‘Scream’ words are rhymed with each other, and there is also
a hyperbole;

Can’t tell if this true or dream

He is in a such a bad condition that he can’t even distinguish between the
real life and dream.

• And after next two lines we can see the Antistrophe (repetation of the
same words at the end of the sentences).
This terrible silence stops with me
Now that the war is through with me

• And in the second line there is a Hyperbole;

it says ‘War is through with me’ because of his
Condition, and by saying ‘war’ he exaggerates and creates a hype.

• And then again we see hyperboles;

That there’s not much left of me

Nothing is real but pain now
In the former sencente it says ‘There’s not much left of me’ it doesn’t only
refer to his mental state but also to literally his physicial state. And the
latter says that nothing is real to him anymore but pain.
• In the first sentence of second verse we see a metaphor;

‘Back in the womb it’s much too real’.

The word ‘Womb’ substitutes for his mental state, he is unable to see, hear,
talk, walk basically he can’t use any of his limbs and that makes him feel
That he’s back to womb.

• In second and third sentences there is a rhym between the ‘Feel’ and
‘Reveal’.
In pumps life that i must feel
But i can’t look forward to reveal

• And next there is a simile he thinks his situation is like a ‘Wartime

novelty’.
Just like a wartime novelty

• Third verse starts with a ‘Personification’;

Darkness imprisoning me.
Darkness’s attributed with human action.

• And Continues with hyperbole;

All that i can see, absolute horror.
Now the only thing it matters to him is ‘Horror’.

• There is a paradox in third sencente;

I can not live, i can not die
It’s a situation which can’t possibly exist.
• And in the fourth sentence a metaphor;
Trapped in myself, body my holding cell
He is in dead-end situation, His body substitutes for a prison.

• And Anaphora (repetition of same word) in ‘Taken My’;

Taken my speech, taken my hearing
Taken my arms, taken my legs
Taken my soul.

• In last line there’s a Metaphor;

Taken my soul.
By saying ‘Soul’ it means His personalities, what makes him human being.
But they all’re gone.

• And last of all we have a hyperbole;

Left me with life in hell.
He is in a such bad condition that he sees it as hell-like.
This song is clearly based on a soldier who stepped on a landmine and lost
all of his limbs.He can’t talk , hear, speak and see.Ironicly, He lives but has
no connection to the life, his body has no any function but his mind
functions perfectly normal, which makes his body a prison. And he even
wants to die.

‘’Hold my breath as i wish for death’’.

War’s not as obvious as it’s represented by media or television, or it

doesn’t have predictable outcomes. We can try as much as we want but it’s
still not enough to explain the horrors of war.

So the theme is that The war has so many edges that we can’t even tell
what is what.It can kill a person by keeping him alive.

• These lines explains the whole song;

‘’Darkness imprisoning me
All that i can see, absolute horror
I can not live, i can not die
Trapped in myself, body my holding cell.’’
