SikaFiber® Force PP-48

SikaFiber® Force PP-48 are polypropylene macro fibres used to
improve the hardened properties of sprayed and poured concrete.
Construction

Description SikaFiber® Force PP-48 are polypropylene fibers for use in improving concrete and
sprayed concrete.
Uses SikaFiber® Force PP-48 are suitable for use in cast in situ concrete and dry or wet
sprayed concrete.
The main uses of SikaFiber® Force PP-48 are in the following applications:
 Fiber reinforced sprayed concrete in tunneling
 Carriageway surfacing / resurfacing with fiber reinforced concrete
 Foundations with fiber reinforced concrete
 Producing concrete surfaces with increased abrasion resistance

With the addition of SikaFiber® Force PP-48, the following improvements in the
hardened concrete characteristics can be achieved:
 Increased ductility (energy absorption)
 Improved resistance to abrasion and impact
 Increased durability
 Rust-free surfaces
Advantages The following properties distinguish SikaFiber® Force PP-48:
 No minimum concrete cover requirements
 Low fiber rebound in shotcreting
 Good pumpability
 Less wear on the concrete mixing, transport and handling equipment than with
steel fibers
 Good chemical resistance (acid and alkali resistant)
 No risk of injury as with steel fibers
 Protruding fibers are removable by fire

Product Data
Colour White, translucent

Packaging 5 kg boxes - fibres wrapped in water soluble plastic pucks (Parallel Packed) in
biodegradable boxes.
Storage conditions 24 months from date of production if stored properly in the original sealed packaging
in a dry place.

Application conditions / Limitations

Dosage Recommended dosage range in concrete and sprayed concrete (EN: E700): 4 - 6
kg/m3.
Optimum distribution of SikaFiber® Force PP-48 are obtained if the fibers are added
before adding the water at the batching plant, followed by a minimum wet mixing time
of 90 seconds.
We recommend determining the precise dosage and optimum concrete mixing
requirements according to the specific project requirements by preliminary testing
and then trials on site.

Important information The addition of SikaFiber® Force PP-48 can cause a reduction in the concrete
consistence. We recommended correcting this loss not by adding more water, but
by adjusting the mix to the required consistence with a suitable dosage and grade of
Sika® high-range water reducing admixture.
