When developing the curriculum you are trying to implement it is
important to start on a large scale and then focus in on the supporting details. A unit plan is design to choose broad topics that will be covered over an extended period of time. In order to achieve the objective of the unit plan an educator must break down how they intend to teach the topic in lesson plans. Lesson plans are the daily lessons the educator will use to scaffold information need to complete the objective of the unit plan. When I First created my unit plan on how the human body works I broke down the lessons by first introducing how exercise affects the body. First I taught the students how to take their pulse and how different types of exercises affect the body. Then introducing other components like heart health, CPR, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. To bring the unit to a close I created a lesson that featured escape rooms. In this lesson I was able to check for understanding by having the students answer health related questions the were previously covered in earlier lessons. It is important that the first lesson leads to the next lesson and all the information is able to be related to each other to help paint the big picture of the unit plan.
