Hung Liu masterful ability and unique style is and will be in art museums for years to

come. We take note of that great artists create art to convey thoughts, to celebrate those who

have passed and to extol political and government foundations. The Rome and the Greek

Empires, masterful creations respected prevalent divine beings and pioneers of gatherings and

domains. Hung Liu's perspective way deal with art is grearly characterized, limited

approach. Her craft is a visual medium that passes on human encounters and community

circumstances. This paper talks about one art piece by Liu and creates two separate reviews

for the chosen art. Of exceptional worry for the undertaking is to use and use the ideas,

standards, and speculations illustrated in class and address notes to assess the profundity and

extent of the chose art portrait.

Hung Liu – History

Hung Liu is one of the most common mainstream artists conceived in Changchun

China in 1948. She studied Mural painting as a graduate understudy at the Central Academy

of Fine Arts in Beijing. Soon after her introduction to the world, her father an officer in

Chiang Kai Sheik's Nationalist Army was caught and imprisoned. What's more, her mother

was forced to separate and divorce from him to guarantee herself and her infant child. Hung

Liu subject during the time has been still-life of a whore, displaced person, street performer,

the story authority of genuine Chinese's photos by subjecting them to be the more attentive

Review One - The Formalist Criticism Theory

The formalist criticism theory refers to creative structures and components and

how they benefit impart important thoughts of human encounters in to art. The formalistic

critic makes use of the components of frame, value, structure, hue, style, and tone and in

what ways they cooperate to make importance and shape the effect of the art (Lazzari 90) on

those wishing to view or customers. The hypothesis characterizes the perspective writing as

a type of anthropological information that is essential and must be considered on its own

terms. Every one of the components of art are explicitly located inside the show, and it is the

watcher or the group of onlookers to look at changed components and how they are blending

to shape the message. The idea is central in the compositing of masterful depictions in

exhibition halls and open spaces by unfurling different art components and structures to

extricate meaning. Subsequently, formal criticism constitutes the assorted variety of

aesthetic structures in drawing an expansive extent of exercises or wonder that clarifies a

human affair and circumstance.

The chosen piece of art by Hung Liu is the Daughter of the Revolution, 1993, oil on

canvas, wood and antique glass bottle, 78.5 x 62 x 5.5. The formal criticism gives an

exemplary way to deal with investigate the art only in view of the natural highlights of the

fine art. Her notable dribble recolored works of art depict the toll claimed by a portion of the

most recent century's most pivotal occasions, for example, Communist revolution, the Great

Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, all of which the youthful artist saw growing up.

Yet, she likewise expands her look additionally back in time, to the earlier century. Working

from vintage photos, she rehabilitates China's confiscated changing the Socialist Realism she

learned as a "daughter of the revolution" into her own image of social authenticity utilizing a

variety of pioneer methods to give voice and instinctive nearness to for the most part female

subjects. The general piece insinuates the essential message. Female quality even with

oppression is the string going through 20th century, painted, and photographic works by

Hung Liu, whose symbolism demonstrates the power and constancy of Chinese ladies all

through history, from royal courtesans to warriors of the Red Army and survivors of the

Cultural Revolution, like herself.

The psychological science used the shading pink is very representative. Pink is an

indication of satisfaction and thought to describe light-healthiness and euphoria. In football

games, teams paint locker or changing rooms a light pink to create a tranquil environment for

the contradicting groups and to make a feeling of unwinding and solace. It is an inversion of

joy and makes a disheartened situation portrayed by various dull shades, an irritating

disposition, and a dim environment. The aesthetic style empowers Hung Liu to take

advantage of a variety of formal components in the formation of intriguing, tragic canvas

painting. The components in the canvas are likewise amusing considering the message of

pink shading and its usage in a scope of setting including style, media, and stimulation. By

and by, I trust the formal criticism theory gives a technique to looking at the assorted

variety of components and its suggestion on the significance and profundity of the canvas.

Review 2 - The Feminist Criticism Approach

Feminist criticism is a way to deal with all types of art waork that offers a female

point of view or perspective in scholarly works. The feminist criticism approach clarifies

aesthetic compositions from a point of view that is both unique in relation to however

perfect with, male's investigation of woman encounters and experiences. In our text book

sorces bolster that feminist criticism is a scholarly type of investigation that asks how male

and female relate (Lazarri 100), and the suppression of the last in a cliché society. The canvas

has a women's activist topic and can be analyzed from the point of view of predicament and

battle by a characterized populace of women and young women alike. The extent of the

composition is to sharpen feminism equivalence correspondence and task the minimization of

women.

In Japan, the pink is related with manliness because the yearly spring blasting of

cherry trees with pink blooms suggested some Japanese soldiers that fell amid the Samurai

Battle. The Daughter of the Revolution is an endeavor to contest manliness and to

incidentally censure the male prevalence and how such mastery interjects over the abuse of

ladies. Hung gives the lady in the sketch a rich picture she never would have possessed the

capacity to have, all things considered, calling attention to the incongruity that photography

in China, initially utilized by the imperial court, commodified these mistreated mistresses yet

in addition gave them a place in history nearby the most elevated strata of society. She

endeavors to give this mysterious lady another existence of excellence. She is regularly

known to begin her compositions with gold or silver leaf as the base, including images of

resurrection, everlasting status, knowledge, and favorable luck between layers of pitch. The

subsequent pictures are amalgamations of excellence, history, and change.

Women especially endured more than their male partners because of the gender roll

part connections amid the upset. While the art may not really censure or test manliness

through frame, style, and general structure, such a commentator is portrayed in the point

Daughter of the Revolution. The topic looks to champion the changed misfortunes pushed by

women's liberation like; mistreatment, local child rearing, and the situation of ladies with

respect to men. Through the feminist criticism, it is anything but difficult to recognize the

social foundation inside which the work of art was made. Iconography alludes to an

arrangement of images that convey compound thoughts as a component of the undertaking.

The iconography exhibited by Liu heightens the communication through three essential

methods; visual rhetoric, symbols, and cultural depiction (Lazzari 13). The joining of

dressing, shading, foundation, and title digs in a feminist criticism viewpoint of social

circumstances. The visual analogy of the woman enhanced with images like the wood and

antique glass bottle implies the bondage that represses the thriving of women. The utilization

of trickles as a stylish and enthusiastic interest additionally adds to Liu accumulation of

aesthetic components to censure stereotyping and isolation. The workmanship is

consequently authentic when it catches the elements of the physical world in a conspicuous

way. The utilization of organization, talk, and style maintains topical regions and to impart

the plot. The illustrative work of art embodies Liu's epic feeling of history to social

encounters of imbalances and shameful acts.

Family trip to the Fresno Art Museum last summer standing in front of one of Hung Liu’s

pieces.

I had previously taken this class in the Spring of 2017 and I loved it. Unfortunately, I

was going through a custody battle and didn’t get the grade I wanted so I am retaking it for a

better grade. First taking the class gave me reason to take my family to a museum, neither

myself or my girls had ever been to one. I can honestly say that we had a great family day.

Since then we have gone to a few different galleries/museums. When it came time to take this

class again my kids were very excited to come with me and find another piece of art to do a

report on. After three different galleries I couldn’t find anything I really enjoys as much as I

did the art by Hung Liu, so I decided to do my report on her again. This time however I did it

on a different piece of art. There is just something about her work that draws you in and

captivates you, I would love to meet her one day. My now wife fell in love with her as well. I

had wanted to get her a piece of art by Hung Liu and realized really quickly how expensive a

piece of art can be. I had no idea, I would love to get my wife a piece one day but $12,000 is

just a little outside of my budget for the time being.
