The document summarizes a student's weekly career research activities. It discusses how the student assessed the career outlook for environmental engineers to help decide if it was a good fit and provide context for future interviews. The student received peer feedback on their resume and began scheduling interviews with university professors. Next steps include further research to develop an in-depth topic proposal and interview questions for a new research assessment.

Performing career research helps to weigh all the factors that may contribute to an informed decision about pursuing certain occupations. Assessing the impact of environmental engineers helps to evaluate the growth of employment and advancement opportunities in future years. In addition, researching the career outlook of environmental engineers helped develop areas of interest within my research and allowed for brainstorming for future assessments and projects. For the next few research assessments, I would like to address the growing concern for water purification systems and pollutant contamination. In addition, the information from the career outlook assessment will be helpful when conducting interviews and mentor visits because it provided me with a basic understanding of an environmental engineer’s daily routine, terminology, and current advances in the field.
Afterward, I looked over peer-reviews for the rough-draft resume and
began to design a final draft of the resume based on the feedback. By describing in detail the educational background section and skills section, I was able to improve my resume from before. Similarly, this week, consisted of composing a list of possible interviews with professors from UNT.
Next week, will consist of intense research to design a topic proposal,
compose interview questions, and write a thorough research assessment.
