Week 5

Welcome to Concierge, your weekly practice program for mastering each of the courses
in the JazzGuitarLessons.net curriculum!

This is the fifth of six weeks guiding you step-by-step through the course. In each week,
you’ll cover a portion of the lessons in the course. As the weeks progress, you’ll find yourself
getting familiar with more angles and perspectives on the fretboard!

This week covers Section 5 of Learn the Fretboard 2.0, where you’ll be engaging in two
different advanced exercises for limited strings. The first is improvising on non-adjacent string
pairs. The second exercise is improvising on the C Blues form using a single string.

Practice each lesson in the following outline until you’re confident in it. Generally, this
means being able to play with Marc in the lesson video in time. Once you’ve figured out the C
Blues on the 1st string, figure out how to improvise the same scales on the other 5 strings.
These two exercises have a lot of depth to them, so dig in!

At the end of the week, you’ll receive an email asking if you’re ready to move on or if
you’d like to repeat the week again. Do your best and practice consistently!

This week’s program

Here’s your workout for the week:
● Watch Lesson 30 to prepare yourself to play on non-adjacent string pairs in the key of C
Major - there are 10 combinations of strings in total, so make sure to play all of them!
● Practice Lesson 31 with your instructor, and practice by yourself.
● Watch Lesson 32 and work out the three scales you need in order to improvise on the C
Blues on the 1st string: C Mixolydian, F Mixolydian, and G Mixolydian.
● Practice Lesson 33 with your instructor. Then, figure out the same scales on each of the
other 5 strings and practice this lesson again with your instructor throughout the week.
