Question No 1:
What is motor Unit?
 Motor Unit:
 Motor unit is comprised of an motor neuron and the skeletal muscle
fibers innervated by that motor neurons axonal terminals.
 Group of motor units regularly work together to coordinate the
contractions of a single muscle
 All of the motor units within a muscle are considered a motor pool.

Question no 2:
What is motor point?
 Motor point:
 Medical definition of motor point is a small area on a muscle at which
a minimal amount of electrical stimulation will cause the muscle to
contract.
 A motor point is a point on the skin at which electrical stimulation
causes contraction of a muscle .
 When the electrode is over the motor point the motor nerve is
stimulated.

Question no 3:
What is relationship between Motor unit and Strength of
muscle contraction?
Motor unit is a measure of of how many motor neurons are activated in a particular
muscle. It is therefore, a measure of how many muscle fibers of that muscle are
activated. The higher the recruitment the stronger the muscle contraction will be.

Strength of Muscle contraction determined:

The strength of muscle contraction is determined by the size and number of
motor units that are stimulated.

Types of Muscle contraction:

There are three types of muscle contractions

 Concentric contractions:
That shortens the muscle.
 Eccentric contractions:
That lengthens the muscle.
 Isometric contractions:
Muscle is remaining the same.

Motor unit control muscle contraction:

 When a motor unit is activated, all of its fibres contract.
 In vertebrates, the force of a muscle contraction is controlled by the number
of activated motor units.
