 Day 1:
Let's start our Bangkok itinerary with the symbols of the city of Bangkok:
1. Grand Palace
Witness the beauty of the Thai palace, which was built in 1752. There are also a
variety of other amazing buildings, including Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald
Buddha), which houses a highly respected jade Buddha image. His robes were replaced
every season by the King of Thailand himself.
2. Wat Pho, Temple of Reclining Buddha
From the Grand Palace it is quite a walk to Wat Pho (see map on the side). This is
one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in the world (46 meters long) and covered in
gold leaf. Wat Pho is the first health science school in Thailand, and until now has an
authentic massage school (Wat Pho Thai Traditional Medical School). Open until night,
and gives its own charm if it comes at night. If you are tired, you can relax for a while in
nearby cafes like Supanniga (win Michelin) or Blue Whale.
3. Wat Arun, Temple of Dawn
From Wat Pho we can cross here by boat, 3 baht only. This temple is very beautiful
to take pictures too. Here also there are tours that offer khlong (canal), to see the life of
Bangkok in the past. What is unique, the sellers here can speak Indonesian!
4. A relaxed evening at Asiatique
After a busy day, let's relax at Asiatique. Besides the cute shops, there are also a
number of recommended restaurants, such as Kodang Talay, Baan Kanitha (winning
Michelin for the Sukhumvit branch), and MK Suki. Halal food is on the far right near the
parking area, or opposite, next to the il Khoirot Mosque. In Asiatique there are also
Calypso cabaret shows, Thai puppet Joe Louis, and Muay Thai Live martial arts
performances.
