Fundamentals of Nursing
Fort Dodge
I was not successful in Fundamentals of nursing because I did not meet the requirement
for medical administration. I was prepared for my finals but I was not able to complete the
I took my studies with seriousness because my family and I made a lot of sacrifices by giving
me the opportunity to come all the way to Iowa to develop myself. So my attendance was good
and I was always on time in class. In addition, I completed all my assignments and on time.
My plan for success this term is to pass the Fundamental for nursing, which is
prerequisite to the second term course. I am determined to succeed in the nursing program
because I strongly believe it is my calling. I always enjoy taking care of people, and I have been
in the medical field for many years working in different capacities, from nursing assistant and
I believe the main obstacle to achieving this goal is self-organization. I seem to put too
much time in researching and looking for materials relating to my subject matter to the extend
that I no longer have enough time to study and assimilate all the material. This creates anxiety
To correct this problem and improve my organizational skills, I have decided to read the
assigned pages and PowerPoint presentations prior to seeking additional material. Reading ahead
will also help me to ask questions and request clarification in areas that may be unclear to me. I
have also realized that I need six hours of study time each school day in order to effectively
manage the school workload. To achieve this, I have cut down my work hours to only 20 a week.
In addition, I have decided to meet with a counselor to help me sharpen my study skills, and to
form a study groups for motivation. I will also take advantage of the tutoring sessions in the
resource center.
I do not have issues with child care because my family is very supportive of me. My
husband is taking care of my 16-year old daughter, and I am here in Fort Dodge all by myself.
