Change Notes
Have you made any changes to your original thinking that I should be aware of when reading
this paper? For example, if you’ve changed your audience, topic, or design in significant ways,
please provide a short summary of those changes here.
No changes noted.
Development Plan
At this point, your plan will be largely hypothetical. Still, it’s useful to think through what you
will create and what the timeline could be for creating your deliverables.
If you are working on your Capstone Project, it’s useful to consider that the module itself is
usually due approximately mid-November.
The e-Learning course, regarding the impacted nursing and kinesiology majors at
California State University, San Marcos, will be asynchronous and embedded within an
informational website. A review of the module content with the SME will confirm accuracy of
learning materials to meet the objectives for the targeted audience. Demonstrations and pre-tests
The content of the course is not intended to be presented in a linear format. Learners can
access the content based on their own inclination and explore the deliverables at their own pace.
There is no funding for the course development, however the anticipated costs for the course will
be minimal. I have access to most of the media resources being used for the deliverables and

website, so using a Moodle course module may not be the best option. The contingency plan will
be to embed the deliverables directly onto the website under the appropriate categories. In
addition, the volume of information may make it difficult to meet the project schedule deadlines.
It may be necessary to scale down the course to cover only the impacted nursing major for the
Another challenge may be time constraints. For instance, the PowerPoint slide deck, that
branches out to cover a large volume of information, may need to be scaled back. If so, the
presentation will be created with the most pertinent information first and additional information
and branching will be added as time allows. Likewise, the flowchart, summarizing a large
prerequisite courses, alternative pathways, and links to additional resources) may be too large of
a deliverable. It may be necessary to scale back the flowchart to reflect only one of the majors
Enlisting student volunteers to interview for the case studies may be an issue. To
accommodate this, it may be necessary to use fictitious examples and use a PowerPoint
presentation of the scenarios. The presentation could then be used as the framework to create
videos at a later date. One more possible challenge is my familiarity with various media
software. Although I am familiar with the basic tool functions, the advanced software functions,
needed for interactive media, may require more time to learn. Therefore, I will need to add
Implementation Plan
For the purposes of this assignment, consider especially the role of the teacher/trainer/
instructor/facilitator and/or the role of an administrator (for self-study modules, where
applicable).
This eLearning module applies to self-study, therefore there is no need for instructors,
trainers, or facilitators. As the instructional designer and a CSUSM employee, I have access and
approval to update the informational website and embed the course modules into the website.
The course will provide automated feedback for correct and incorrect answers for the targeted
learners. Additionally, job aids will be provided to download as quick review guides for primary
and secondary target audiences. After the completion of user testing, I anticipate a smooth
implementation of the learning solution and that the learners should be self-reliant.
To support the delivery of the learning solution, the SME will provide review of the
content to be used for the project. The SME will assist me if additional support from senior
support on an ‘as needed’ bases and a search for student volunteers will be conducted for
testimonials to use for the case studies. The module is asynchronous and access to the targeted
audience is restricted. Therefore, volunteer testers will be recruited for the tryouts across various
CSUSM departments who interact with prospective applicants. Rationale for this is two-fold.
One, I can gather feedback on their reactions to the solution, as well as, their understanding of
the material. Secondly, recruiting this secondary audience will assist in disseminating the
course is not necessary. Once the course is launched on the website, it will be available to any
user who wishes to access it. However, other logistics may be required such as the use of the
‘25Live’ classroom/conference reservation tool needed for interviews and pre-test tryouts. If
additional equipment needs to be attained, they will be rented through the faculty/staff support
office at CSUSM.
Evaluation Plan
Describe how you will do both formative and summative evaluation for your learning solution.
An evaluation plan will be conducted using both formative and summative means.
Formative Evaluation
Include here how you will do, for example, subject-matter expert reviews, developmental testing,
and, if applicable, user testing. (This is about testing your learning solution to make sure that it,
for example, has all the right components, is not confusing, doesn’t lose the learners partway
through. This section is not about doing a formative evaluation of your students. That’s a whole
different thing.)
To evaluate the learning solution, the materials will be reviewed with the SME for
content accuracy, completeness, and effectiveness. These evaluations will be informal and
conducted periodically through email and scheduled meetings during the design and the
As prototype materials are completed, individualized and group testing will be conducted
prior to implementation. I will observe user reactions and solicit feedback to identify any

operational issues that users experience while taking the module. A short questionnaire will be
given to evaluate usability, engagement, and content. Review of observations, feedback notes,
and questionnaire results will provide feedback to adjust the module accordingly.
Summative Evaluation
Describe your plan for capturing Level 1 information (how your learners react to the learning
solution). and a short statement about how you will determine Level 2 (whether the learners have
mastered the objectives). (You do not need to repeat any test items here.) Let us know if you plan
to conduct Levels 3 through 5 and be sure to say why or why not.
Post-test surveys, regarding enjoyment and attitude toward learning, will be distributed to
users at the end of the tryouts to evaluate their experience as a result of their course participation.
Additionally, the quizzes embedded in the modules will evaluate Level 2 learning objectives to
determine the amount of learning that takes place. Level 1 and Level 2 results will be evaluated
Level 3 and Level 5 will not be evaluated and are beyond the reach of this instruction.
gather feedback at a later date from the various campus departments and community colleges as
to whether they have had less calls and emails regarding impaction inquiries from applicants.
